Last game of the 68/69 season. Lost 2-0 at home to Gllingham. They needed a win to stay up. We were in mid table. I remember nothing else about the game at all except I was down the front of the N Stand with my Grandfather; just to the right of the goal as you look at the pitch,

Nov 1959, Albion Reserves v West Ham at the Goldstone. West Ham were my team in those days having lived in East Ham, but Albion won 5-0. So tart that I was, I changed allegiance, although West Ham remain my second team (in UK at least).

About 1960, crawling under the corrugated iron fence on the East terraces/chicken run side, with my mate. No idea who was playing, who against etc, but it was enough to just get in free and watch something as important an event as a football match involving Beeeeerighton!

I am sure my first ever game was the 7-0 thrashing of Walsall think that was the 76-77 season, not a bad way to start following the Albion.

Just as well that you weren't influenced to leave at half-time then! It was the first game that I had see, where I seriously contemplated leaving at h/t, by which time it was 0-0 and I wasn't too happy at standing in the drizzle watching the most lack-lustre performance I had ever witnessed in years.

The famous Mullery half-time talk!

At home to Mansfield 1977 it was my 7th birthday present. Had a seat in south stand, think we won 4-2 and they had a man sent off. I thought it was great, little did I know the highs and lows I was letting myself in for.

East terrace

We tried to go into the east terrace for the next home game, before realising it was the away fans end that day. I think it was the Orient game – which could have been interesting! Ended up watching from the North Stand.
