Those of you going by train would be wise to change at clapham junction and go to watford. you can pick up the inter city from there. the cost on this route is 41.90 and not the 60 quid you would pay via euston. the journey is about the same time in total (or at least very little difference).
the cheap tickets are gone as a lot of people had the same advanced fare ideology.:bla:

My group took the plunge a while ago before it was confirmed for the 23rd. 10.43 from Euston and the 7.10pm back. £28 per adult! However had we booked even earlier it could have been £14!

split the journey up, book your outward journey tickets from polegate on the southern website and book your journey from euston on the virgin website. A quick look shows you can do it for just over £100 minus the tube portion of the journey.

It's worth buying a Network railcard for £20 a year.A 1/3 off in the South East.

Use that for Polegate to Milton Keynes(furthest you can get on the zone) then MK to Brum.Stay on the train. The rail staff aren't supposed to sell you tickets the whole way but there's some kind 'uns at Haywards Heath-never had any probs.

It'll cost around £40 each. Not great but if you travel to every match by train you'll save a bundle long term.

It works out more expensive?

ok here's your info:

book a daysave for southern railway via their website..its 20 pounds and four adults can travel to clapham junction and back on that (effectively 5 pounds each). a return from clapham junction to witton (via kensington olympia) is only 32.80.

so thats 37.80 each

Amazing it seems so varied on the prices.
We just walked up to Preston Park and asked for a group ticket for four people. £82.
No booked seats, or anything like it.
MInd you if Croydon are going that way too, them trains are going to be fkg packed that morning.

In London village.
On the other hand if you booked group travel in advance, the return fare from Euston was £14.
