Screech of breaks, u-turn on the South Circular and sirens on.

"The Metropolitan Police Service is aware of widespread reporting relating to alleged breaches of the Health Protection Regulations at Downing Street on 20 May 2020 and is in contact with the Cabinet Office."

when was the last time a landslide of that magnitude occured?

Not sure exactly. 1997 was the last proper “landslide” election.

That said, there is a path to power for Labour if they can keep their nose clean between now and Election Day. While the Tories have a large majority, that was built in part on winning many seats by small majorities. A lot of their seats are vulnerable to a relatively small swing.

Labour don’t need an overall majority. They just need enough to be able to form a credible coalition. Even if the Tories are the largest party, they might have no partners left with which to form a one of their own.

The next election will be very tough for Labour, because the electoral maths and FPTP are stacked against them, but a victory of sorts is still possible. It’s important for them to try and have Johnson flushed out as soon as possible. The Conservatives might well want him to remain in in position to soak up all the crap 2022 will have to offer. Then they can offer a “rebrand” ahead of the next election. Labour needs to apply as much pressure as possible to get him out now. Then the next PM will already be losing their sheen come Election Day and perhaps two years of the electorate being battered by inflation.

It's certainly going to be interesting. Not a cat's chance in hell The Lib Dems will jump into bed with The Tories after what happened behind the scenes last time.

If Labour and Lib Dems can somehow cobble together a coalition without eating each other, would the Lib Dems try again to change the electoral system ?

They got smashed out the park last time.

The Tories will want Boris to remain in place to take the blame for the energy crisis, whilst keeping Rishi Sunak sheltered from criticism.

They will then roll out their new look leadership team at the end of the year.

Cummins in full shit stirring mode saying "the trolley was there"

Hacks like Piers Morgan calling for Bojo to go and the Beeb leading with it this morning

Time for him to buy and warm sleeping bag, find a fridge and hope it all goes away

Click on the Sun & Express websites - they really aren’t bothered with the story. The assumption is that their readers aren’t either.

Boris could pull his pant down and take a shat on a typical Sun reader’s doorstep; they’d just come out their house, ruffle his hair and joke about them having to clear up his crap. They don’t care.

There is a narrative of a media conspiracy to suppress the story when the facts point to the complete opposite. Ironic really.

Indeed. The fact that The Express has this on their front page and The Mail have been highly critical of Johnson for a while now shows the direction of travel. It's just how long is the journey ?

It seems to be a part of the claim that nobody cares about what Boris etc do, so they can get away with whatever it is. The reality is that most people don’t put politics at the heart of their daily lives. There are other much more important issues. That doesn’t mean they don’t care. They will take everything into account when casting their next vote as that is the next opportunity to register an opinion. The left are too quick to think that people are stupid and that arrogance is often their downfall. They need to relax and let people make up their own minds.

The left is just doing what any opposition do, holding the government to account. That's what happens in an open democracy

The usual protocol is most in the UK is the print media are just Tory government fanzines, so the opposition have to shout louder to get heard.

Even today we still have the Sun and the Telegraph ignoring the story.

I can have some sympathy with the first bit, but the bolded bit? Come on.

Starmer does nothing - he's a completely ineffective leader, what's the point of him.

Starmer, and Labour in general point out this appalling, lawbreaking hypocrisy - don't mention the war.

Labour need to absolutely muller him. He's clearly an utter scumbag, just as their Deputy Leader said. I bet I can go back to May 2020 and find plenty of quotes on NSC calling anyone breaking lockdown rules exactly that.
