I discovered in the Villa ticket mayhem last year that this is not the case.
I couldn't get anyone to understand I was being ripped off at the time, as I'd paid for the original away membership scheme and then become a blue member at full price. When I decided not to renew the blue membership, I thought it was obvious that I would just revert to being a white member without having to pay again - but I was wrong!
Therefore, I am now wary of becoming a blue member again, as if I then can't afford it one year, I'll become "persona non grata" again.
