Surely the ultimate, if unlikely, aim for most clubs is for it to be irrelevant how much the owner is worth? As long as the club itself is making enough off its own back to be comfortable then surely that's enough?

That said, if he feels the urge to help buy a player or 5 over the summer I doubt anyone would complain...

Try telling Citeh fans that. They don't care what the club is making off it's own back, they're only interested in how much dirty oil money is thrown at the club.

To be fair to them what else are they meant to do? The players will get bought and the money spent regardless, they may as well enjoy the moment whilst they can, as many people would (be honest, Silva at the AMEX, you wouldn't care how surely?).

With any luck the financial fair play rules will curb all that anyway. It's fine for the fans to enjoy it, and why not. Lets face it to most fans they want the best players available for their club.

Well here's hoping, though they're heavily weighted in favour of those clubs with Champions League football...hey ho, they won't effect us for a while anyway...

Certainly hope so, however the clubs flashing the cash will find ways around it. Would they possibly just then employ the player as an employee for one of their many other companies etc?
