Just a few point, work by the Met, Local Authorities etc.

Have shown that despite the media myths, there are still few "gangland gangs" in London.

There are gangs of men, normally estate base that manage their turf, these are normally protecting their drug trade. Again, not major league gangs.

Then there are gangs, which most boys join, basically, a group of mates. It is not unique to LOndon.

Unfortunately, kids fall out of the school system, these kids tend to find each other.

Actually, when you look at the areas of the satbbings they are not the recognised deprived, poor parts of LOndon. Stabbings in the East End have been very low, this is also the result of good work by the Met, The Councils, Social Workers and community represenatives in these areas. These are also the areas with the better race relations and more cohesive communities.

Okay, let's admit and unveil a few home truths now;
How many of us have had a bad-tempered run-in with another person - say, in a car where the other bastard has just blocked your way/cut you off/sped up to block your manoeuvre, or in a pub or disco, or in business, or in relationships - where you had thoughts wishing them a nasty end? Or anything nasty to happen to them?

Now, anyone actually picture themselves doing some ill deed to that person?
Un-manifested as such thoughts may be, they CAN occur in blind rage, and they can erupt and subside within minutes.

A younger person generally has those emotional 'eruptions' quicker and more heatedly than an older person, who will probably control or temper their emotional balance and put things into an experienced and considered perspective (apart from 'Old Gregg', who is apparently too dim).
Give that young hothead a weapon to go with their visions of death and destruction, and they'll be considering getting past the social boundaries of law and order, thinking of the excitement of freedom of will, the bravado, the ignoring of all danger and repercussion. Like life is a dream to be enacted, like in the movies and video-games. Bang bang, yeah, draw the blade and stick it in, thrust and run, cut that fucker up they deserve it.
Thus ends a life, that a mother went through pain, that parents worked and nurtured, that was taught at school and loved their pets and had real friends and cares and personality. Gone, just like that, in a few seconds.

Take away the weapon, and the imagination is just that, the deed remains undone, and time will heal and balance with perspective.

I think most of you have been on both sides - a hater, and a hated, the angry red-mist somewhere and in the eyes of one or the other.

The solution IS simple (take away the weapons), the enforcement of that solution is awfully difficult.
And when some are carrying in supposed self-defence - the job gets harder and harder.
