Sorry but you cannot condone the police in this instance and ANOTHER racist attack from them too.

I'm not convinced that an authoritarian police state where violence and confiscation of private owned evidence is really the way forward right now.

We should have more police and they should all be highly trained (and better paid) and any kind of violence from them should be an absolutely last resort. They should all have body cams. Nothing is wrong with the public filming them, in fact, it should be encouraged - and obviously they should never have the right to confiscate public videos, or be allowed to prevent them from filming.

Yes, there was an element of racism involved, not for the first time with the police.

Surely the best thing to do is for Manchester police to stamp on the head of a white person at the airport and then…problem solved, no more racist accusations.

I really WANT to believe, in light on the recent longer footage, that several users will publicly apologise on here for their assumptions. @El Presidente @crodonilson

But further, I hope they are willing to ask questions of themselves and their judgement and ideally offer themselves for charity community service working with victims of actual crime.

The real world isn’t champagne socialism. Jumping on places like NSC and being faux-outraged and trying to cause division based on race is absolutely disgusting.

I wouldn’t go as far as to ask for a permanent NSC ban, but I’d certainly expect a full apology and proof provided of self-improvement in order to be allowed to post further.
Still no apology for inciting racial unrest. So unsavoury and inappropriate.

Thanks for this, how did you know this? I bet it is on the instructions....I don't read them!

It appears I may have not read what he was saying in it's entirety, so I apologise to him as I missed a bit. I feel there is a lack of respect of our police force in general so I may sensed this wrong with this poster.

I think this is a twitter thing from some people, they see it and think they have the whole scoop and then they can push their agenda to change a narrative of course everyone knows this just stokes up trouble on the streets, perhaps they want this to happen.

Despite me thinking the copper did the right thing by certain standards, by law he is bang to rights and is going to get the book thrown at him.

It’s a bloody shame but the law will have to be seen to be upheld.

It’s law but it’s not justice.

People were claiming the man kicked in the head was restrained before being kicked.

The footage in video 2 shows he was not restrained.

He had been tasered but nobody was restraining him. He’d just attacked armed police officers in an extremely aggressive assault.

Officer was neutralising any potential threat.

No case to answer.

He f***ed about, he found out.
I would say there is certainly a case to answer. Whether the court find he used reasonable force or not is a different question.

Yet somehow in my 55 years i can honestly say I’ve never had a situation where a Police Officer has made any unreasonable demands of me or be aggressive in any way 🤷 I guess you move in different circles to me 🤔
The last time I spoke to a Police officer was when my son’s bike was stolen 2 years ago. They didn’t find it.
The time before that I was 10 and was told to stop kicking a ball against a garage wall.
(am now 51)
How times change, and not for the better.
Sad, the country I grew up in has changed irrevocably, for the worst.
Take away technology and we have regressed a society.

My most recent encounter with a police officer was in London, just a coupe of weeks ago.

I wanted to cross Westminster bridge on foot but it was blocked a line of parked police vans, blue lights flashing. I approached a police officer and politely asked him when the bridge would re-open as I had tickets to take my children on the London Eye. He explained that the bridge was currently closed to vehicles but remained open to pedestrians. He concluded by saying that he hoped we enjoy the London Eye and told my kids to give him a wave from the top, before punching me the ground and stamping on my head.*

A number of comments on this thread have related to the Tommy Robinson rally yesterday at Trafalgar Square stereotyping everyone who attended. At 70 years old my curiosity got the better of me and for the first time I attended one of these rallies. I did not witness any of the altercations described here, I'm not saying they didn't happen but also remember the wonderful Sadiq Khan, who, in his wisdom, permitted a left wing march by Jeremy Corbin to conclude in Whitehall yards from the Tommy Robinson rally. On the way down The Strand I heard a few insults being thrown at the marchers, many marchers shouted "don't rise to the bait" presumably this is a regular occurrence. At Trafalgar Square I saw no trouble and the police had a very relaxed afternoon. Much is made of the nine arrests, which group are they all from? Obviously, anyone who didn't attend wouldn't know what was said by the speakers on the stage. There was a strong anti Islam feeling concerning people arriving on dinghies and receiving food, clothing, accommodation and medical care when our own, especially former servicemen are forced to sleep rough, this is a divided subject. There were also other speakers who were anti covid vaccine, these I didn't agree with as I feel we all had a choice. One other speaker particularly got my attention was a lady who was raped at the age of 16, the religion of her attacker is not relevant. On his release he was permitted full access to the child as he is the father, does anyone think this is right. As I say I am not a knuckle dragging moron, just much the same of the majority attending, all ages, both sexes, and believe it or not all colours and religions.
In my capacity as a photographer, I also attended yesterdays rally in Trafalgar Square as I do with many events on the political spectrum in London and arfer guinness is spot on with the above summary. It is actually amazing with the tens of thousands of people who attended that there were only single digit arrests, with the news outlets focussing on a guy being arrested in the doorway of a pub in Whitehall after the event had finished. The other arrests being reported were at rival demonstrations.

Yes, there were a few unsavoury types there, but most of the people I spoke to were warm and friendly just as they were at the Pro Palestine march that I covered recently.

Semantics. And the police have the right to demand your details for many, many more reasons than breaching an ASBO although it would be a CPO, CPW or CPN. ASBO’s don’t exist anymore and haven’t for some number of years.

I absolutely understand what you are saying and I agree with you .

I’m just picking up on some points because you are incorrect about quite a lot of your claims.
Whilst not wanting to derail the thread, I am interested in being educated. Can you give me examples of when I am legally required to give my details, when there is no reasonable suspicion of me having done something in particular?

You appear to know the law.

It’s a bloody shame but the law will have to be seen to be upheld.

This gives the impression that you think coppers should be above the Law.

Do you not think that coppers should abide by the law?

Or rather be a law unto themselves?
This would not be a very good look, or deserving of respect.

It's not just a case that coppers should be seen to uphold and abide by the Law,

Surely as Crown and Public servants they should be expected to uphold and abide by the Law.

It’s law but it’s not justice.

Justice, now is that not for the Judicial System to decide?

Surely you understand there are reasons why the Judicial System remains separate to the Police & Law Enforcement?

Impartiality and Integrity being just two.

You wouldn't be in or associated with the Police Force would you?

You mean the papers didn’t report on people doing what is expected? No way. The fact is several people were arrested for assaulting emergency workers so this is obviously newsworthy.

Applying the point of most people behaving themselves I expect lots of exciting stories about people going through airports today without hitting a copper and then being kicked in the head once tasered and on the ground.

Hasn’t Tommy also been picked up for showing his banned terrorism related video which was the whole point of the March? Given he has been arrested for terror offences I expect the army of people there who think terrorists should be deported or beaten were chanting for him to be removed from the country right?

This is so similar to the “we love free speech” people who turn into complete snowflakes when someone uses free speech against them. Elon banning people on twitter, gb news going mad when people criticise their staff etc. “no not that kind of free speech” is similar to “now the police need to follow the rules rather than dish out justice”

Did those laws ever come in giving police the right to arrest someone who might be about start a protest? If so they were lucky they were not used!

Just so I’ve got this right. Thousands have been walking the streets of London every Saturday since last October, calling for jihad, death to Jews and openly supporting a recognised terror organisation, and according the the MET police and the mayor is perfectly fine.

Tommy Robinson holds a peaceful event, shows a films which proves corruption yet he is the one who is arrested and charged on terror offences. That’s a mental state of play right?
