Yes there’s no bar inside the stadium, but you can always pop into the Sportsman before and after the match. It’s now part of the Stonehouse chain, so for morning kick offs you can have a 5,000 calorie all you can eat breakfast for about £4.50. Remember too that your old seat will only be there if you were in the north stand - all the other seats have long since gone to Whitehawk and Newhaven. And as Jackalbion said, many of the north stand seats are now used by pigeons.

With East Thurrock v Worthing postponed yesterday I went to Horsham FC to watch Loxwood v Pagham.
The visitors were far too strong for Loxwood. 3 up in 11 minutes and led 4.1 at half time.
Improved showing from the home side in the 2nd half despite going down to 10 men but Pagham ran out comfortable winners by 5.2.
No midweek game for Worthing this week so may go back to Horsham on Tuesday to see them take on Enfield Town although there are a few SCFL games aswell if the pitches dry out in time.

Hoping that the rearranged East Preston v Littlehampton game goes ahead on Tuesday night, Golds haven't played for a month and are at risk of being seriously undercooked for the big FA Vase game at Newham on Saturday.

The pitch at East Preston isn't the greatest in the warmer, drier weather let alone during the wet winter we are currently experiencing!!!
Pity there are no 3G pitches over that way that the game could be switched to rather than another postponement.
The Loxwood game yesterday attracted a crowd of 152 which must be well above their normal home gate so was definitely a shrewd decision apart from the final score!!

Haven't decided where to go tonight yet. Would like to visit a new ground but time restraints may stop my first 2 choices of Little Common v Three Bridges or Horley v Raynes Park. The possibility that a late pitch inspection could see both postponed because of waterlogged pitches also not ideal.
Will probably either go to Horsham v Enfield or Saltdean v Eastbourne United at Steyning Town as they are both 3G pitches.

Pitch was pretty awful, but it didn't seem to be a problem for Littlehampton, who edged out EP in a 13 goal thriller (12-1). Joe Benn got 7 (seven) - I think that's 55 for the season now. Back on top of the league by GD, with three games in hand. They are so much fun to watch.
A lot of excitement about the trip to east London on Saturday for the Vase 4th Round game at Newham; this weekend has the potential to be a memorable one. Grateful, for once, that TV have intervened and move the Palace game to Friday night!
I assume side like Worthing or maybe a National league side will sign Joe Benn at end of season

Who knows? He's been here three years and scored heavily each season; maybe he is happy where he is. If Littlehampton get promoted, perhaps he'll stick around. He's a teacher, so maybe wouldn't be willing or able to commit to the extra hours of training and travelling that playing at a higher level would involve. Be a nice parting gift if he got us to Wembley!

Went to Horsham v Enfield.
Very entertaining game. Finished 4.3 to the visitors.
5 goals and a missed penalty all in the opening 28 minutes. Horsham saw a penalty saved, then went behind before 2 goals put them in front. Enfield then hit back to score twice, their third goal a fine long range effort by Faal, one of the divisions top players.
Both defences tightened up a bit in the 2nd half but Horsham made it 3.3, Dsane making up for his penalty miss by scoring at the far post.
But Enfield scored the winner with 12 to go, Faal bursting clear before unselfishly squaring for Cass who found the roof of the net.
Result leaves Horsham in mid table and Enfield move into the play off places.

I must again recommend the Football Web Pages for up to the minute non-league stuff.
It is a requirement that all clubs update matches to the minute. They get fined if they don't. Up to date news and analysis of each club in steps 1-4.

Odd little set up at Met Police, Cash only and they charge £11, so didn't really understand why they were complaining so much about not having any change, its their own fault. Club house is outside the ground which was also slightly odd, but if you like floodlights this ground had absolute floodlight porn, a fantastic set of four floodlights on each corner. A nice stand on one side and a covered terrace behind one goal was also pretty decent. The game was a competitive affair between 1st (Farnborough) and 2nd (Met Police), with a couple of ex Whitehawk players in the Farnborough XI in Jordan Rose and Sam Deering, and Farnborough managed to edge it out by scoring 2 in the first half, before the Met got one back in the 93rd minute. The burger operation was very odd, with myself being told that there was no food halfway through the first half, to see a man walk around the ground with a burger, to go back at half time and they had a big sign with no food, to only queue up and find out there was food, very confusing. Not a ground that I will rush back to, just a tick I think and then onto the next one, which is the Ladywell Arena tonight to watch Forest Hill Park v Hilltop, in one of London's very exciting Athletic Track Stadiums, before heading to Margate and FC Romania at the weekend.

All of this. There are certainly plenty of players at SCFL clubs who are capable of playing their football at a higher level, many of them though, (it's certainly been the case at Horsham YMCA over the years), who are more than happy staying where they are, enjoy playing with their mates, and having a few pints in the clubhouse after the game.
The higher you rise through the tiers of the non league game, the more serious football becomes, and there is many a player who just wants to keep it as a hobby. A lot to be said for that l think.
