Aside from lives saved, hopefully the end to economic and social restrictions.

What's encouraging there is that with things running close to normal, the R rate remains well below one and is continuing to drop. This, in a country where something like 98%+ of all cases are of the 'Kent' variant. It bodes well for us.

Even if that’s the case the majority of O50s and the otherwise vulnerable will have had both jabs, deaths and hospitalisations will be very low and lockdown will be well on the way to easing completely.

Infections - 6303, rolling 7 day down 2.8% (1.63m tests)
Deaths - 95, rolling 7 day down 33.7%
Admissions - 426, rolling 7 day down 25.5%
Vaccinations - 462k 1st and 119k 2nd, cumulative 25.7m and 1.9m
People in hospital - 7,218 (not updated from yesterday)

Note - numbers on ventilation has dropped below 1,000 across the UK for the first time in the second wave (968)

Now down to 6,553 in UK Hospitals according to this website which tends to be a little bit ahead in days of the official Government figures when it comes to reporting people in Hospital - Great site too
