Its the same old story when Albion fans are looking for a scapegoat. A player gets the blame for a mistake that is not forgotten but carries on for longer than is necessary.

The internet created that problem i'm affraid, Prior to fans forums all we done was moaned after the match and maybe a grumble at work on monday and then it was all forgotten and we just looked forward to the next match.

I think if el abd had not verbally abused the South Stand Fans who contribute to his wages then I think some of us would have abit more sympathy for his cause.....what goes around comes around

Given some of the non-stop whinging that goes on in the south stand I cant think of a better place for a bit of verbal abuse to be aimed at.

El-Abd loses his concentration in critical times, espically yesterday with those two dodgy back passes. He is not a centre back, and espically not a central midfielder his best position is definitely at Right back.

He is not a right back.He plays better in the center but not much better

El-Abd always put effort into his game, but effort alone is not enough. Including the goal he made at least 3 bad mistakes yesterday. He is just not up the level we are playing at. I don't have anything against the lad personally I just don't think he is good enough.

there was more than one mistake that led to the goal. Richards hoofed the ball in the air when trying to clear, the Leeds full back was unopposed when crossing the ball, Eld Abd miscued, and Kandol anticipated Kuipers' save before anyone else.

As for not scoring, we set our stall in the first two minutes with 11 players defending our box for a Leeds free kick, continued it for the next 75mins when at times we had 4 players behind the ball when we had a free kick and Leeds had 11 back, then we give Elder 7 (?) mins and Forster 4 ( ?). El Abd to blame??

And why oh why do we play Savage wide right?

If not El Abd at centre half, then who?
We have 3 specialist centre halfs out injured. (inc Butts who is only just back in training.)

Adams best position is centre mid imo & can do a job at right back.
He aint a centre half & in an ideal world would never play there but he was asked to play there by Wilko & he did it to the best of his ability.

A lot of my mates were slating him (unfairly) for the goal & his other slip ups but as I kept saying, 'He isnt a centre half'

Even Sammy Hypia dont get it right 100% of the time & he's an International.

Maybe a loanee centre half would be the answer while Lynch, Hinsh & Butts are getting back to full fitness.

Maybe its too early for Andy Pearson but he's looking decent enough in the reserves.

I agree with the original point of this thread, Get off El Abds back. He'll come good.

And to whoever says those fans deserve abuse, they're still paying their money, which is a lot more use to the club than those who sit at home and praise everything.

Even when the whinging and player abuse puts other fans off from going?

he was awful yesterday - the customary shocking back passes and then the cock up for the goal

i actually feel quite sorry for him, as he looks completely out of his depth playing professional football

The amount of moaners is pretty large though. In fact, where I sit it's the majority of people. Surely they're not keeping THAT many people away (if anyone)?

I know of a few including an ex STH who rarely go for that very reason, maybe we should rename it whingedean stadium?

El-Abd has always made mistakes at centrehalf, he's just not that good there. I actually think it is the worst position of the three he can cover. He can do a job at rightback, although he contributes little going forward. He can do ok as a defensive midfielder as long as he keeps his passing simple.

He is a decent squad player, who despite the odd :tosser: to his own fans probably has his heart in the right place, and always gives his all. But he is not good enough to hold down a starting place in any position. Butters, Elphick, Lynch and Hinshelwood should all be ahead of him. Two were fit yesterday, so El-Abd should have been sub.
