Bizarre. What a mixed career, did great at Palace, Reading and us, then you have these other episodes.

Good manager but a well known bottler. Coppell must just be one of life's mental midgets, nice bloke and had the skills to manage at the top, but just couldn't hack the pressure.

Bye Bye VD :bigwave:

SURELY a massive chorus of "P-A-L..." in his "honour" for Saturday?

Technically brilliant, but with absolutely no interest (or ability) in boardroom politics. The problem being, the bigger the club, the bigger the politics. IMHO he'd be a brilliant No. 2 for a top club or national setup where he's shielded from having to explain himself.

I love Coppell so much i would guzzle his saliva from a drain. A thoughtful manic-depressive at the whimsy of his paper-fragile moodswings. We should get him back here and let him do whatever he wants - he always said the main thing he enjoyed about being down here was being allowed to get on with the job (which was a fairly big party pooper for those who fingered Uncle Dick for tinkering.)

Eh?

He's a funny little fella SC isn't he. Maybe the old VD has taken a serious hold of him, and he's retired on medical grounds.
