Opinion is polarised about Coppell. Is he a "dirty filthy rat faced scummer" or a Brighton legend...

No fence bollocks. Choose one or t'other!

Brighton, United Kingdom
neither really , fair play to him for recent stuff but no where near an Albion legend

still seen as more P*l*ce then Brighton in my eyes mind.

Fence...........not a Brighton legend, but would have been one of our best ever managers if he'd stayed.

Future England Manager, sooner rather than later hopefully.
He has a soft spot for the Albion definitely, in spite of "that song".

(By the way, where's the poll?)

It's up the top. The way he's gone public about his affection for us even though he was a scummer...well this might redeem himself?

How anyone can refer to him as a legend is totally beyond me.
Anyone remember the "Stevie give us a wave" at selhurst when we were 4 down?
What did the "legend" do? Oh yeah waved.
Wanker.

When you're surrounded by thousands of scum fans and they tell you to wave then...you wave! He did want to escape alive from that place, didn't he.

Yeah that'll be why then

Nothing to do with with him being Palace to the core at all.

If he's so Palace then why is he bigging us up so much? He's gone on record more than once about our potential. He also attended the Falmer march which is more than some OTHER managers have managed.

I think it's more likely that he's United to the core

9 years at Pa*ace, right? So how long does it take to become fully Pa*ace or Brighton to the core, say?

I told you,I personally couldn't give a flying f*** whether he bigs us up,goes on marches or whatever.
The fact of the matter is he IS NOT in any way, shape or form a Brighton Legend.
Be honest he didn't actually achieve a great deal here did he? for a legend that is.

I don't think opinion is polarised, he did a good job at the club, but was ultimately unsuccessful in his first season, despite us being out of the bottom three with about 6 matches to go. When he left we were in a reasonable position. His best piece of work was to persuade Leon Knight to sign for us instead of QPR. For all Leon's many faults, without his goals that season we would not have been promoted.

So I think that the poll options are shit without at least a third option

Way out west
I was gutted when he walked out on us to go to Reading, the only time I have ever felt anywhere near that bad was when Cattlin left, most of the time my feeling has been that a change of leader would be a good thing. If I live till I am 108 I am pretty sure that I will still look back, assuming alzheimers hasn't set in by then, on the time SC was our manager as a good time in the history of our club.
