I've become a night owl for the last couple of weeks so i'm well excited.

Few cans of Guinness, bottles of Smirnoff Ice, gram of Coke and a couple of E's.

What?

Just watching the Channel 4 Alternative Election programme.

But I've turned it off for now. They're doing a politician's Come Dine With Me (a programme I hate anyway). If there's one thing worse than a Scouse accent, it's Derek Hatton's scouse accent.

If memory serves me well of previous result nights, are there not certain results that the experts say give an indication of which way the result will go as they always vote in the MP of the party that wins.

Dartford, Chorley, Luton South, Stevenage.
Medway used to be but that's been moved to Rochester and Strood this time round.

First results in with a swing of 8% from Labour to Tory. This means that Caroline Lucas might very well get in in Pavilion by a whisker ahead of the two main parties.

Me, I've been staying up -- aided by the time difference -- since Sunny Jim Callaghan days, and BBC World Service shortwave. The old radio coverage was more interesting than the new pundits-on-parade on tv -- lots of reports from the hustings, with the reporting officer milking his or two minutes of fame, the fringe parties, etc.

Now, too many graphics, and too many professors.

The list of constituencies is one of the great works of found poetry in the English language...
