I’ve got a feeling he might be on his way out in the summer.

With Groß, Veltman and potentially Milner ahead of him for the RB position, we may well take the cash. His injuries are meaning that he can’t tie down a regular position. I just hope it’s for more than £15m as I think that really undervalues him.

Any price we get this summer would be selling low, and for that reason I can't see it happening. No one is paying more than 15m for a player coming off his injury record, he would need to have a good season to be worth that.

What we've got in our favour is pre season.

If he can get himself fit, get up to a good pace again, get some confidence accelerating and turning, there is still a wonderful young player there and he can be our first choice right back and very useful cover at left back.

If it's not working out as we all hope then I hope we find him a decent club.

We’ll likely loan him to Sporting as they’re interested with a clause in.

I actually think we'll have a new RB joining over the summer. The three you mention are all very good players, but are also all converted from other positions rather than a specialist. I think we may be looking at someone more on Estupinan's level (easier said than done)

I worry for Lamptey because when I look at how Alexander Arnold has evolved his game he has almost turned himself into Grös lite. Can’t see little un doing that but you never know. He was quicker before the injury so has to bring something else to the table now. Keep the faith because I find him exciting to watch.

He needs to be sold. Too injury prone. Gross shouldn’t be used as a right back look how good he was v wolves.

We are left with veltman. Need a big right back signing since veltman covers centre back too.

Also need a left back cover.

He doesn't need to be sold, all players suffer injuries.
It's the type of player he is, quick and exciting to watch.
Other players who cannot anticipate his movements, will go in on TL, resulting in his injuries.
I'd still watch a 99% TL hurtling down the wing.

It looked like all of the injured players (Moder, Lallana, Sarmiento, Ferguson) were at Wembley - but I couldn't see Lamptey there. I wondered at the time if that was a sign that he's moving on.

Tariq likes to bomb forward and commit himself in attacks. Pervis on the other side likes to do the same (but does it better IMO). If they both played together we would be very exposed at the back, Veltman and Gross are a little more savvy in this regard.

Also Tariq seems more reluctant to take on and beat his man since his hamstring injury. As people have said he may have lost that burst of acceleration that made him so impossible to defend against.

Still a great player but £15-20m is probably about right at the moment.

How soon is now?

I'd agree with this.
It looks like his hamstring issues have been resolved, and this injury is unrelated. Knee injuries need to be treated carefully, and we don't know the extent of this knee problem. However it now looks like he has the summer to have this resolved, and one would think that if he had needed surgery this would have happened by now.
There is still good player in there, and hopefully we'll see more of him.
However, I do agree that we need more cover in both full back positions

Two of those players are midfielders than can 'do a job' at RB.

I think we'd want another out and out RB if we let Tariq go.

I think Tariq is probably done, I think getting him fit and playing regularly is a huge task which will take years and while I think we'll invest our time into him, I don't see him being a big player for us again. I think we'll probably keep him on, work on his fitness and see where we are next January for a potential loan to get game time. He'll probably need to re-think his game as well and focus less on explosive pace and more on intelligence in when to run and carry, and when not to go.

I think we should cut our losses and sell him to the knackers yard.
Just think how much our new fans in Japan might pay for special Albion-branded Lamptey Glue. Sticks twice as fast.

I have a sense he’s maybe not a RDZ type of player, at least not at RB. Our game now requires real technicians at the back (and in CM) to manoeuvre the ball around the press and then pace across the front line and on the wings to drive forward when we do so. In the few games he has played he has tried to run with the ball from the back, which we don’t do now really. Possibly better as a back up to Solly in this style.

Dedic from Salzburg is an excellent option (who I mentioned last summer) as he is a natural fullback who can operate on either side.

Elias Jelert would be a great young option who whilst not quite at the level of Estupinan has plenty of potential.

Ivan Fresneda would be my ideal pick though. Incredibly talented 18 year old getting a lot of minutes at Real Valladolid who would excel with us.

Strange thread, players usually get hyped up when injured. Poor Tariq seems to have suffered the opposite and is now written off as useless.
