Played cricket against him when he was 15, he ran out our opening batsman who was on 199 and raising his bat to acknowledge first ever double century in the history of the South Lancs League off the last ball of the match.

It was very telling that Guardiola was asked at the w/e if he would want any of the United players for Barca, and he immediately said "Paul Scholes".

A truly outstanding player who scored some great goals, made passing balls 70 yards look as simple as a 1 yard pass, made some eye watering tackles and most impressive of all, made space for himself whenever he had the ball. I heard owen is trying to convince him to come to the albion with him next year

One of my fav players of all time, all round game was superb and played at the right tempo all the time, some great goals in there as well, would have hated to play against him as always in your face, if he had not retired from international football so early, he would have been the regular in the middle of the park instead of Lampard.
