Hateful little shit, never understood what all the fuss was about. Not so sure about under-rated, possibly the most over-rated player around. Only considered a 'great' footballer because Ferguson tells everyone he is, when in reality Fergie just seems to pick him when the opposition are decent in midfield so he can run round smashing people.
I hope your trying to be funny because if you're not, your post highlights a distinct lack of footballing knowledge.

Might I also remind people that Scholes retired early from the national team then pissed us about prior to the last World Cup. Aggressive twat with insecurities about his hair colour!
How is Scholes only considered great because Ferguson keeps telling us?
Surely his medal collection and plaudits from his fellow pro's should tell you he is England's greatest midfielder for a very, very long time.
When footballers of the distinction of Zidane, Henry & Xavi wax lyrical about him describing him as the best or amongst the best they have ever played against, that gives you a huge clue as to his achievements and performances in the game.

Ah yeah I agree with you there he's definetly been a top player in his time I just think he was a horrible reckless little cvnt that sometimes got away with things that others would not have just because "oh that's Paul scholes, that's the way he plays"
In fact that happens with a few of the manc players Rooney being another one

Englands greatest midfielder for a very, very long time? Granted he was good, but it's this sort of ridiculous hyperbole that gets up peoples noses. He was a great passer of the ball and positionally very good when his team were attacking, but defensively he was poor. He wasn't a set piece specialist, he didn't have great pace, and he wasn't a dribbler. So how does that make him greater than the likes of Gascoigne, Gerrald, Beckham etc

Whether he got away with some awful tackles and wasn't sent off more often because of who he was or who he played for (or both!) is a moot point but the fact remains that he was too reckless too often to be considered one of the "greats".
The question remains that someone whose positional sense and timing in so many aspects of the game was exceptional could not time a tackle, and it is little wonder that he has a reputation as a "nasty" player as a result.

I agree with this assessment. The fact that he's played at this high level for such a long time seems to have lent itself to this absurd hyperbole. Just because he was a good player for so long (and he was good), doesn't mean we should be talking like he was Zinedine Zidane just because his career goes into its 15th season.

I hate Utd as much r even more than the next person. Doesn't stop me from realising that Scholes was ABSOLUTE CLASS. As footballer he made Becks look like Andy Sinton

Paul Scholes Man Utd appearances 675, scoring 150 goals, 67 assists. England appearances 66, scoring 14.
Frank Lampard Chelsea appearances 509, scoring 170, 108 assists. England appearances 85, scoring 21.
