The best (& only) thing with Woss was the impersonation by Rob Newman:

"fwub fwub fwub fwub fwub aha

fwub fwub fwub fwub fwub aha

fwub fwub fwub fwub fwub aha"

Very funny and it wasnt even Woss.

No great loss at all.

The only person he impresses is himself. Good riddance. Trouble is it might open the way for Graham Norton - come back Woss .......

The licence payer wins. It won't be hard to find better chat-show hosts or film critics on a fraction of the money. QUOTE]

Won't it though?

Ross isn't very good, he's a one trick pony.

BUT
who are the other contenders?

Norton? Piers Morgan!? Davina? Alan bloody Tichmarsh?!

Paul Merton would be great as anchor for film 2010, better than ross, would like to see James May get the chat show slot.

Was wondering if his name would appear.

BBC - Podcasts - The Danny Baker Show

Cracking interview with Elton John last week, worth a listen.

I agree, but where's Danny Kelly? The two of them together is unmissable.

Ross going is great news - Fri night TV needs a vastly wider appeal IMO, and I resent tuning in to see a quality guest, only for Ross to bang on about himself and how much he 'loves' said guest's lifelong work.

Frank Skinner would be far better. He's already had a chat show and he's not only a hell of a lot funnier he's also not so full of himself.

Not Luton! Thank God
I liked the show and really am struggling to think who will replace him. I liked Parky but he was so SAGA in his later years. Norton is getting better but is probably too far the other way for primetime.

Things are worse than I thought!

From the Daily Evil...

Graham Norton (left) has already been mooted to replace Ross on his Friday night show while Mark Kermode could be lined up to do his film show and (right) comic Michael McIntyre could replace Norton in his current Monday night slot

I like Ross' radio show, it's a f*** sight better that anything on Radio 1 and there's not much better on Radio 2. His two TV shows are pretty decent but I think the repercussions of the Sachsgate meant to him losing his freedom. There's no-one around who does light entertainment any better and less of a prick: Ant and Dec, Davina McCall, Graham Norton?

Kermode for his knowledge is great but his manner is a little irritating, as is his ridiculous rockabilly haircut - not prejudiced, really.

Good riddens to the overpaid, over rated piece of self obsessed shit.

Personally I agree that the replacement are just as useless but to be honest I'd be quite happy to see the whole chat show thing disappear as they are nothing more that arse kissing and self promotion. Friday night porn on the BBC is the way forward!

Only ever funny on occaisons, and a real arrogant f***, who was not worth £6 Million PA for providing 'edgy' humour.

Not sure that is the remit of PSB.

The problem with Kermode is that his world is purely fantasy. From his radio piece with Mayo, it is clear he knows nothing about the real world. He seems to want to disect a movie to an atom and personally that bores me.

As regards Ross, I think his Friday night shows are good and seem to attract A list celebs. The big problem is the suggestion that the Beeb might be investing more in McIntyre who's humour is non existant and who also seems to irritate far more people than Ross.

Just about sums it up for me.
