In his game for a laugh days, my dad once drove him in a veteran car to open a village fair.

As someone took our picture he got his arm round my neck and placed a finger from his small hand up my nose.

I obviously hadn't "watched out"

His life and career seemes to full of contradictions.

After appearing to many (including myself) to be a complete arse on screen, apparently most of his friends remained outside of the television industry and he tirelessly raised money for charity, without making a massive deal about it.

£100 million pounds raised is worth anyones respect.

Rubbish television programmes, but a very nice man by all accounts.

I will mostly remember him however, for sticking his finger up my nose.
