Poyet: Season could hinge on siging striker

If Navarro wasnt injured or if it was one that he could recover quickly from and Sparrow didnt have 3 games of at a time and managers of the opposition didnt pinpoint Greer with his temper then perhaps and only perhaps 2 players would suffice with much more cash allocated to a striker, the team are sometimes their own downfall and no matter what is said on here it aint going to influence Gus or TB .... all we can do is just wait and see.

I think weve always needed an LB, an LW and a CF so threew as always the minimum... it increased to a DM with navarros injury.

So we need to sign replacements for Greer and Sparrow for the ONE more League game they're going to miss? Or because they get sent off are they now going to be binned like a common cat?

If we were to spend 30% of the budget on one player, a striker - he would be on serious money.

How would this be seen within the squad?

That's not why they are chastised. I think everyone knows and admits that we're a few players short and especially light up front.

It's the suggestion from these people that Poyet and the club haven't been trying to find a striker, or the pointless childish insults (see don whateverhistwatnameis 4ish posts up)

Aside from a few morons, I don't think too many people think GP hasn't tried to get the right players in with the resources available. But expectations are sky high and Bloom (also Poyet to a lesser extent) share some culpability for setting these expectations at that level. For whatever reason, it seems they may not now be able to deliver.

Who knows, perhaps we will end up with the squad we need - there's still time. But the post-TB/GP arrival honeymoon period in which the club has almost been beyond criticism in many people eyes is probably coming to a close.

I think it is just frustration that any half decent striker commands a big fee, I see Rotherham are rating Le Fondre at £3m, how many would be confident/comfortable with us paying that much TRANSFER FEE on a player like him?

I would pay £750,000 up front and the balance up to £3million if we got to the Championship in the first year. (TV Money would easily cover the additional fee)

If we got there the second year then I would pay another £750,000. Making a total fee of £1.5million

If we are still in League One for 2012/13 then the initial £750,000 would be the only payment.

Wouldn't they hold on to him until next year, when they are most likely to be in League One and then sell him off for the desired asking price?

do you think that poyet is coming out saying that we have hardly no money so clubs dont go right we have a striker worth say £500k but coz you have a new stadium on the way and a rich chairman we are going to up that to £750k.

We know Gus does not like loan players but he is a realist. If he cannot sign a striker by the close of the window I am sure he will be looking in that direction.

Even they talk rubbish sometimes though, not suggesting they are in this case, but I was at the Goldstone on business when news broke that Case was being sold to Southampton, I was told by one of the coaching staff that his legs had gone and it was a great deal fro the Albion, Err I believe he did rather well down the coast didn't he, and for a number of years.

Bloody hell.............how old are you ???
