Player ratings v Orient

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Average = 5

Kuipers 7.5 - Some tremendous saves, but marked down by 0.5 for needlessly wasting possession a few times in the first half.

Whing 6 - A busy performance from the ginger maestro.
Elphick 5 - Nothing to write home about. Solid, but was done for pace a few times which is hardly surprising.
Hawkins 6 - A cultured and committed performance.
Richards 6.5 - Marked up for a couple of goal saving tackles. Leyton Orient have some tricky wingers and I thought he dealt well with them overall.

Cox 4 - Poor against Rovers. Poor in the first half against Southend and very poor today. Are we ever going to see the Cox that burst onto the scene?
Virgo 4 - Some decent passes and put some pressure on his opposite number, but did look out of place.
Thomson 5 - Severely lacking in support from his fellow midfielders.
Livermore 4 - Poor

Forster 5 - A tireless display, but really didn't get the support he deserved. The midfield were too lethargic to give him some options. Didn't look like scoring or forcing a save.
Murray 5 - Could and should have buried that chance midway through the second half.

Subs:
McLeod 6.5 - Tested the keeper within 40 seconds of coming on, something that the whole team failed to do in the first half. Why did Adams switch him onto the right flank so soon? He was doing well on the left. I would have saved that trick until a bit later.
Robinson 5.5 - Could have been a 6, but marked down slightly for turning over possession too easily and some dodgy touches. Ran at the defence well (albeit rarely) and could have snagged us a penalty.
Loft n/a - One cracking pass and one overhit pass

Kuipers 7 Did what he was expected to do. Kicking was much too long and aimless
Whing 4 Poor suprised it took so long to substitiute him. Would think days are numbered.
Elphick 5 Was responsible with Whing for most of the problems to our defence.
Hawkins 6 Tried hard to hold the defence together
Richards 8 Good performance fully deserving MOM.
Cox 5 Didnt get into the game enough.
Thomson 5 Efficient but not exciting
Virgo 4 Is not a central midfielder think he should and will be played at right back.
Livermore 5 Same as Cox and Thomson.
Forster 6 Chased everything but looked fed up with the poor service from midfield.
Murray 7 Good allround performance but not much chance to shine.

Subs:

McLeod 6 Injected some spark when he came on and must start the next game.
Robinson 4 Did nothing, produced nothin and gave nothing to the team.
Loft 3 Same as Robinson except that he hides away from getting the ball or tackling.

Generally a poor performance that showed that we do not have the strength in depth to bring on players to change or win a game.

Michel 8 - EASILY our best player today. His bravery saved us today!

Whing 6 - Good in the first half, but caught out a few times in the second.
Elphick 5 - Poor by his high standards
Hawkins 6 - Wins EVERYTHING in the air, and kept Orient at bay many times by heading clear.
Richards 6 - Started VERY poorly. But played very well in the second half. A few quality last-ditch tackles saved us.

Cox 4 - He did try, he just had no effect whatsoever on the game, and was rightly subbed.
Thomson 6 - Best of our midfielders, he only lost out once in a dangerous position. Otherwise he battled away.
Virgo 4 - Very poor, no better than Cox. He should have made way at some point today.
Livermore 4 - No impact on the game, being played out of position obviously doesn't help.

Forster 7 - Beat his man a few times, but the end product was lacking. He should really have scored as well.
Murray 5 - Wasn't impressed today. Nowhere near his best, then again he didn't have the service!

Robinson 7 - Did exactly what Cox can't do...beat his man and showed a bit of pace
McLeod 6 - Played well at first, but had faded by the end of the game

BG - What are you talking about with Whing? Agreed he didn't do the best today put Whing is one of the first names on the team sheet IMO.

He was very poor today and that allowed the Orient left flank to attack us down our right. I am sure that most scouts have pinpointed Whing and Elphick as a weak paring on the right side of our defence and will attack us down that area.

I feel that either or both Whing and Elphick have got to be changed to allow us to not be so exposed and that would mean either Virgo going to right back or Lynch coming into the centre for Elphick and Hawkins moving across. Both Whing and Elphick win the ball sometimes but then dont know what to do with it and Whing is often caught out attacking when Elphick hasnt dropped in to cover him.

Whing was pretty good today in my opinion. Often looking for the less obvious opotion, always prepared to make the challenge. Kuipers did play VERY well.

I think most of what you've said there is wrong, so we'll agree to disagree.

Kuipers 10 because without him we would have lost, simple as.
Can't be bothered with the rest but Richards had a bloody good second half saved the rest of the defence on more than one occasion.

How can Kuipers get so many 8s when he kicked the ball to the opposition 70% of the time, isn't sensible distribution a keepers responsibilty at the Albion ? Punting 5 or 6 times to the opposition keeper is pretty poor imo

maybe but made the saves that got us a draw, that is what he is paid to do

Agreed but 8 would suggest an excellent all round performance, it wasn't.

Kuipers - 7 - one good save, SHITE kicking though.
Whing - 6 - outpaced in the second half, did ok though.
Elphick - 7 - our best defender, think Micky had a word with him at HT thoough regarding hoofing, too much of it in the first.
Hawkins - 6 - reasonably solid
Richards - 7 - good attacking outlet
Cox - 2 - sadly, not good enough. A shadow of the Cox of two seasons ago.
Virgo - 2 - should have been sent off, not a midfielder
Thomson - 2- anonymous
Livermore - 5 - could be a good central player, crap as a winger though
Murray - 4 - one chance, blew it
Forster - 3 - didn't turn up today

Robinson & Mcleod - 6 - looked lively, god knows why they switch wings though.
Loft - 10
