Spielberg did not direct the Flintstones. ...

I know but, as Executive producer, he was largely reponsible for getting the film off the ground.

A film, as with most Spielberg releases, produced to capitalise on merchandising.

Spielberg= Best Film Marketing Executive: Average director.

I really liked the English Patient. And Kubrick. And Jaws. And Fritz Lang. And Hitchcock. Does that make me a snob or not? I'm very confused. :(

Hey, fucket, doesn't matter.

Will do. :dunce:

I guess that Spielberg even being suggested as "greatest director" is proof that you can polish a turd after all.

The Schindler's List spin off were good weren't they. I particularly liked the Schindler's List McDonalds happy meal with a free Star of David.

I'm not telling anyone they're tossers. I'm just making the point you go into Frank beetroot mode the minute anyone disagrees with your laughable dictat that Spielberg is a "great" director.

Which incidentally, he isn't.

Isn't it high time to cut'n'paste some badly-written personal review of ET? Written by an semi-literate emotionally-inconteninent (and probably 25 stone) woman from Arkansas who's seen it 50 times and STILL cries every time? C'mon Gareth, get googling! :)

But Glover is one isn't he.

I voted Tarantino but only because I don't know much about films and I like everything I've seen that he's directed a lot.

The criticisms of this effort seem to have gone over your head.

I think it's fair to say that Schindler's List wasn't really marketed towards the 6 year old market that McDonalds sells Happy Meals to. Guess what, I don't think Jaws featured all over plastic McDonalds cups either.

Come on in and join Film Snob Club - you know you want to. Free tea and biscuits. Next week's discussion theme is: "What the hell was Giorgio Moroder thinking when he coloured in Lang's Metropolis and put Freddie Mercury on the soundtrack?"

For the sheer amount of quality films, it has to be Hitchcock.
Got his massive boxset for Christmas, it's QUALLA

I think you'll get an easier ride calling Gareth a tosser than you would if you called Spielberg one.

I'm now wondering whether that "mentalist" Alan Partidge uber-fan was modelled on Garth?

Garth, do you have a lifesize cut out picture of Uncle Spielberg in your living room?
