NSC Moderators, why don't you stop swearing on this site?

I see on a thread 'Hillsborough Petition' that within a couple of posts the four letter swearing and abuse starts. Surely you must realise that some people, (maybe all), do not want to read this and that there are young children that are interested in and follow the Albion and look at this site.

I believe the moderators have a duty to protect viewers from this and either warn or then ban people that post with swearing content. It makes this site look unprofessional.

Bearing in mind that a major advertiser (sorry, I can't remember who but Bozza will know!) was close to withdrawing there advertising through explicit images I'm surprised the moderators seem willing to let this swearing happen. I appreciate that the issue with advertiser is different but it is in my opinion it is an unacceptable part of an excellent site.

If any of the moderators wish to contact me and discuss this I would be pleased to hear your views.

Please report incidents that you find particularly offensive using the 'Report Post' button (the exclamation mark in a black triangle) for the post in question.

I'm not a full blown mod but I have no issue with swearing in context - it is after all a football site. It doesn't really matter if it looks professional or not as this site isn't a professional concern. If there are particular posts that concern you then report them.

EDIT - beaten to it !

Personally I agree with you, is there any need to throw gratuitous profanity on the particular thread you mention ?

Bar one or two silly replies that thread clearly shows the views of some passionate supporters. Swearing for the hell of it is pointless, but this site is for normal people from all walks of life expressing their views on all sorts of stuff. I agree let's not make it a tacky porn site, but a bit of swearing is part and parcel of life im afraid. This is not a kids site.

here you go sweetie, a fan site more for you. this is grown up site for grown ups (even if we dont always act it ).

if you have kids, *you* have a duty to control what sites they access on the internet. its not for the internet to change to your whim.

Patronising post, feel free to continue to show your lack of vocabulary and general all round ignorance by using profanities rather than speaking English. I think you need to use The BBS - CPFC.ORG - Crystal Palace Football Club, you'll be at home there.

I think that the OP is right, his kids want to be involved as Brighton fans so why should they be subjected to pointless abuse ? Quite unnecessary on this occasion.

intended to be patronising. you will note i didnt acutally swear, nor advocate it. i tend not to swear unless it adds to the weight, meaning or feeling to a post, as is the purpose. i just dont think we should get all care beary about it either. what stop all swearing? and didn't you have a rather profanity filled rant at someone last week?

Indeed, just read that thread and it's pretty much above board. In the post he's talking about the person even bothered to put **s in the middle of the word f***.

There are many adult themes on this site which are much more harmful to the malleable mind of a child than a bit of swearing. It might be news to some older people on here, but kids learn every word there is on the playground these days.

This isn't a place for young children.

Thanks for the replies, an interesting mix. I'm not sure reporting a post makes much difference.

There seems to be an ingrained thinking by some posters that good communication involves four letter words. bhaexpress, I think you 'OP' means me. My son follows Liverpool and I take him to Oxford - kids now seem to have two clubs! He doesn't come on this site, not really interested. I do like this site, the news about club and players starts here, a brilliant site. I just get irritated with swearing and immediate abuse simply because somebody has a different view to you own.

I'll move on and hope for three points today. Some of you lucky things will be at the game, I'm working but will be by a radio. Enjoy the game today

I'd leave NSC exactly as it is. Of course there is swearing on here but there is swearing at football matches, does that mean you don't take your kids? Not advocating swearing but NSC does not need sanitising...imo

There's a time and a place, frankly why would I waste my time on abusing an idiot like you though, you're rather beneath my radar (patronizing post). Just to fill you in though, I will tell you that El Pres sent me a message that would have earned him a slap if he'd said it to my face, frankly I think the bloke is joke now. However I will leave it there.

Profanity is a horrible word.

Why should swearing be acceptable in any circumstance? You've called me a 'C U next Tuesday' in the past.

Ps I have no problem with swearing.

Agreed.

The OP is concerned about his children (who follow Liverpool..?..) seeing this site. When are parents going to realise it is THEIR job to look after and protect their children, from whatever they deem unsuitable....not NSC.

If the OP doesn't like the 'swearing' etc etc because his child/children might see it .......then don't put his selfish need to be on here before his perceived childs/childrens needs.
