I've lived near to many, since I first moved to Sussex ...

The Hand in Hand, Upper St James's Street, Kemptown
The Albion, Church Road, Hove
The Abergavenny Arms, Rodmell
The Constant Service, Islingword Road, Brighton
The Green Dragon, Sydney Street, Brighton
The Good Companions, Dyke Road, Brighton
The Prestonville, Hamilton Road, Brighton
The Park View, Preston Drove, Brighton
The Battle of Trafalgar, Guildford Road, Brighton
The Gardeners Arms, Cliffe High Street, Lewes
The Ram, Firle.

I'm beginning to realise why I've stayed.

wherever the money is
Romans is my local but one hell of a walk. Closest pub is the Portland who do have some wicked bands on.

Way out west
The Linden Tree on Bristol Road is the only pub near where I live that I could go in and be certain of coming out alive.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the glory hunters:D

It is quite expensive, but IMHO you get value for it. Its the best pub around this area. Ive been to all my other locals and they are not up to standard. I may see you in there Sunday.
Yes. yes you will.

Not sure about the "value" though. £3.20 for a pint of looneyjuice just isn't funny any more.

I had a marvellous fillet steak in the Amsterdam on Sunday, washed down with a Guiness in the Red Lion. Splendid.

Geographically: The Park View
Gastonomically: The Crown & Anchor
Spiritually: The Brewery Tap

Do you ever brave the Brewery Tap outside match days? I've never known a pub get such mixed reviews, some good friends of mine who have since moved away swore by it, others have told me untold horror stories.

The Park View is the pub I tend to go in most in Preston Park, although not 100 per cent convinced by the refurbishment.....maybe the Open House if I can be bothered to cross the park.

Mostly I've stayed loyal to my previous 'local', The George in Trafalgar St.

The Landor Theatre

er... Clapham

Famous for the fact that it has a theatre upstairs, hence the name, though I've never been (to the theatre)
