5/4 now on Skybet.
Who the HELL is betting on this? Absolute madness!

Tony Bloom, its genius.

He puts on a million, creams the bookies for 2 million profit, then puts Owen on a 2 year contract for 1 million a year......

In essence he's free!

I'm pretty sure he knows him very well.
Some have alleged that a local chairman is the big backer behind a certain local bookmakers who specialise in taking bets from very big players.
A massive earner who likes a bet, I'd be amazed if Bloom and Owen didn't know eachother very well.

People are laughing about this but I'm pretty sure this rumour isn't as far fetched as some seem to think.

really, why? on what basis is this not far fetched?

lets look at facts (again). lives in Cheshire (or N.Wales whatever). in the 50-100k pw wage bracket. at 31, though injury prone, still one of the best players around. played in the European cup this season.

why would we be at the front of the queue? theres a dozen clubs that can offer more, both footballing and wages, most alot closer to home.

i would love to be wrong, i would absolutly love it if he turned out in the blue and white. i would probably name my first born Owen. but its simply not going to happen.

The club official we spoke to at our meeting tonight suggested different.

If Owen signs I will wear a sandwich board in croydon town center in only an Albion shirt advertising how people from Croydon should f*** off in their caravans and support real football teams!!!

I know its not gonna happen, and infact its slightly delusional.
But each night, before I go to bed. I have a little pray and ask for it to be written. Which is rare for an atheist/agnostic.

He was there in his official capacity so I have no reason to believe he was joking.

and "officials" cant have a bit of a laugh and banter? what was said that would be taken as confirmation or mitigate any of the reasons against?

One of the club representatives did say he had been down a few times lately but I still don't believe any of it.
