I would contemplate dropping Butters to the bench to be replaced by McShane. He and El-Abd would be a quality pairing because of their defensive skill and pace. El-Abd is nowhere near as good playing right back as he is centre back, same as Hinshelwood.

I cant believe that MM is even considering not putting Mcshane straight back into the defence according to todays Argus . Surely he is worth a place along side Tank with perhaps El abd swapping to a fullback role .

He has to keep a very decent young player like El Abd motivated - this is actualy fine management.

One of the problems on Friday was that we won too few defensive headers - I should think that is exercising McGhee's mind more than anything else.

Execellent point. Although we won, there were times when El Abd/Butters were struggling with the aerial bombardment in the first half.

Hammond's doing OK - he was our best player in that decent first half display against Reading.
