Totally accidental (from the opposite side of the pitch). Both players were tussling for the ball, McNulty stumbled and started to fall forward, rolling to one side as he did. He crashed straight into the other player's oncoming leg, landing with all his weight on the bloke's shin/knee I thought.

Totally freak accident.

Not good at all to hear that he might not play again, but it is a serious injury. Good of both the Crewe player and Micky Adams to go and see him though.

The 200 odd yard walk back to the changing rooms must have done him the world of good,FFS havnt we got anybody at this club that knows anything about what job they are supposed to be doing!

Absolutely. Why the f*** don't the club have some sort of mobile operating theatre with doctors and everything which they could wheel out onto the pitch in case of times like this. That way if they're in doubt about anything they could just open the players up on the half way line and see if anything is wrong.

By the way Taybha, maybe you could write to the club with details of your thesis on the best way of spotting a ruptured kidney just by looking at them.
