McCammon will leave one way or another according to the argus today.

Either signing for Watford or if he does not he will be loaned out.

What will London Irish think? He never says a word against McGhee but defends McCammon to the hilt saying we need him.

All these outs are because we are going to sign an expensive QUALITY proven striker before the deadline...........maybe

if we dont sign anyone and offload our one target man, who despite everyones great support, has been not to bad this season, then that would be POINTLESS

So we are reducing the squad size once again - either Dick Tight and the Lardy Jocko clown have got a huge signing up their sleeve or the squad is going to be seriously lacking in experience!

High risk tactics in my opinion with the window closing on Tuesday.

...all this talk about the transfer window closing, so far we haven't even worked out how to open the sodding curtains, let alone look through it.

If McCammon's our target man we might as well plant a lamp-post in the opposing half.

More skill,more mobile.

Send him to Gurney Slade Pond Dippers and Pipebenders Academicals Reserves, preferably for the book of six second class postage stamps he's worth. But on loan if it rids us of him.

I really can't believe they would do this without a replacement in the pipeline

How can you 'replace' someone who has done f*** ALL ?

Surely having the £1500 or so a week the useless fucker was on is more than acceptable.

Exactly, ship him out if we can.

He was looking pretty good a month ago, to get rid of him now with no replacement seems stupid but it appears from what the club are saying it's more to do with him and McGee clashing rather than football reasons

Mark McCammon is on his way out of Albion before next Tuesday's transfer deadline.

The big striker will be loaned out if he fails to land a permanent deal with Championship promotion chasers Watford.

McCammon (pictured below) trained with Watford yesterday, an arrangement organised by his agent after Albion had set up a couple of loan options with Hertford Middle School and the 2nd Brighton Cub Scouts.

Manager Mark McGhee revealed today: "He is coming back and then I'll insist he goes on loan somewhere else or to Watford. He'll not be allowed to go to Watford on loan."

McCammon, 27, served his purpose last season, helping the Seagulls to wins against Gillingham, Watford, Sheffield United, Sunderland and former club Millwall.

He had a bust-up with McGhee at half-time at Burnley in April and has made only a handful of appearances this season, partly due to injury.

Meanwhile, youngster Joe Gatting is poised to play a more prominent part in Albion's battle against relegation if McGhee's hunt for new prolific youth teamer made his second substitute appearance at Sheffield United last Saturday and scored again in the reserves at Colchester on Wednesday.

"He'll continue to get the sort of opportunities he is getting," McGhee said.

"Whether we are ready to start him or not I'm not sure, it depends what happens.

"If in one of those opportunities he shows enough that he should be given the next step then we'll do it, it's up to him. He has certainly showed enough in training.

He looks as likely to score as anyone.

"Physcially he'll hold it up and keep possession and he looks as if he is going to score a goal because he keeps getting into the danger area.

"If we go and sign somebody that is going to do that job then his opportunities might be limited a little bit. If we don't then he could find himself getting a chance."

The availability of Gatting and leftback Joel Lynch for Albion's FA Youth Cup fifth round tie away to Blackburn could be affected by the result of Rovers' FA Cup fourth round tie at home to West Ham tomorrow.

The Seagulls' under-18s will go to Ewood Park on February 8 unless Rovers require a replay with the Hammers.

Albion's tie would then take place on February 10, the night before the first team's crucial home fixture against relegation rivals Leicester.

Albion's kids have the extra incentive of a possible trip to St James' Park if they triumph at Ewood Park. The winners will be away in the quarter-finals to the winners of next Tuesday's Brentford v Newcastle tie.

This would be a very bad move without someone else lined up. McCammon and CKR are a reasonable combination. Big Mc may not be a football genius but he's definitely worth having about I reckon.

Some of the criticism of him is ridiculous. If he's really that dreadful, why would Watford even take a look at him? May I suggest that people who know a bit more about football obviously think that he can be useful.....

Let's get rif of all our strikers then as they've not done a lot.
Oh we'll keep CKR but half his wage cos he only plays well when he comes off the bench.
And keep Robinson cos even though he's looked poor and scared this season he is well good on Football Manager 2005 and isn't that what's important
