I imagine the 'netting' will be like the above. Will look brilliant if they do it.

Do they think they could fill a 100k stadium for league games ? Maybe Man City , Liverpool & Newcastle but can't see it being full for many other games unless the tickets are really cheap. Still that's 10k tickets for away fans such as Us, Palace and Bournemouth :)

Are you suggesting something grey and more in keeping with the sky of Manchester, like this a concrete factory type building perhaps with a chimney as a symbol of the north. I quickly drew this as mock up of what the new stadium could look like...

yes. they make such a fuss about their industrial heritage and a lot to be said in favour of a bit of old school square brick building. would stand out as a stadium, be "iconic" for the right reasons, not an architects wet dream.

Given how fickle a lot of football 'followers' (as opposed to fans) are, does Manchester United still have one billion followers, given their slow demise to the point where they are so far down the table? And is it still the most famous club in the world? (Both statements made in the video).

I'd also be interested in the 'arguably the largest public space in the world' claim, too. As I said before – I take all this stuff with a pinch of salt.

I think they should have nicked the concept plans for the Fratton Park replacement aka the Toilet Bowl.

I think what it is is a way of convincing the moderate to hardcore United fans of a middle east takeover. A true sports washing project. Just watch it unfold.

How else will a club £1bn in the red be able to afford a £2bn project? Reading between the lines this is actually the death nail for United and, moreover, potentially for football.

Their waiting list for season ticket is estimated to be tens of thousands but they know they will fill it via their BILLION members globally. If they build it, people will come - from all over the world - and they will pay for the privilege. Personally, whilst not sure about the three giant masts, (not very Manchester ) I think it's a hugely impressive project. It's also further evidence that our football clubs can be major drivers of re-generation and that the Premier League is now one of our most successful businesses.

BBC said today that the three masts are meant to represent the three prongs on the devil's trident on their badge !

As if that requires some sort of sportswashing campaign.

If Prince Abdullah of Iran says "I'm buying this shit, the Glazers are out", most United fans would be wanking like they were caged chimpanzees.

Is the netting there because the neighbours keep complaining about the wayward shooting?

The interior looks great. The regen of the surrounding area looks great. The exterior concourse created by the 'net' is a good idea. But did they have to make the net look so much like circus big top with a revolving restaurant type structure up one of the spikes? It makes a good idea look pretty comical and dated I feel. They could have created a more modern and unique design, rather than a circus tent.
