The government are planning for an actual disaster. I would say their maximum number of 100,000 deaths (20% increase) would qualify as a disaster.

Whilst China will probably end up with less than 5,000 dead judging by the control they are now getting over the spread of the virus, however, you could argue that they’ve had a disaster in terms of their economic position and reputation.

I’d be very surprised if the infection rate takes off in this Country like it has in Italy but the government failing to screen airline passengers from Northern Italy since they had their big spike has to be a reason why our figures are going up so much. I think Boris thought that we’re all going to get it anyway so why bother preventing it get into this Country?

Did you? I admire your trusting nature ???

There needs to be a level of financial support for those who are more vulnerable such as yourself. After all, you are doing the government and NHS a favour if you reduce your risk of catching this to a neglible level by self isolating. Travelling on cramped public transport, going to cinemas, theatres, gigs and restaurants are all probable major risks of infection.

I'm already considering changing my shopping habits and going ridiculously early or late to a 24 hour supermarket to avoid crowds.
Good luck HWT.

Cheers mate. Back home now. Just the stress-related neck spasm, hernia and arthritic knee to distract me till the Arse game :lolol:

He was also on Newsnight, despite having been in Brussels mixing with people who are now self isolating. Why do the BBC persist in interviewing him? He’s not a doctor, an MP, an MEP, nor even a leader of a political party anymore.

Same reason Jimmy Savile was kept in a job - a BBC perception that everyone loves a freak? ???

I honestly think that the Liberal Oxbridge suits that run the BBC think that they are still giving him enough rope to hang himself. They honestly believe that anyone with half a brain would find his arguments stupid, circular, xenophobic and over simplified. They still haven't realised that large parts of the UK absolutely lap that shit up, ironically making Farage much more clever than the BBC suits.

From a member of the Stanford Hospital board. This is their feedback for now on Coronavirus:

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS –
1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold.
2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees Celsius. It hates the Sun.
4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.
6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. Normal laundry detergent will kill it.
7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
10. Can't emphasize enough - drink plenty of water!

THE SYMPTOMS
1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days.
2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further.
3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.
4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention.

ADDITIONAL ADVICE
Serious excellent advice by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases:
Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat are moist, never dry.
Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Once there, your stomach acid will kill all the virus.
If you don't drink enough water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and into the lungs. That's very dangerous.

The new Coronavirus may not show signs of infection for many days. How can one know if he/she is infected?
By the time they have fever and/or cough and go to the hospital, the lung is usually 50% Fibrosis and it's too late (Fibrosis is not reversible).
Taiwanese experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning. Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds.
If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, etc., it proves there is no Fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicates no infection. In critical times, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air.

There's a lot of new information there. Is there a citation for that research?

If the virus were really killed at 26/27 Celcius.... then it shouldn't survive for long in a human. 🙄

We now have more case than italy did 14 days ago.

WHO report for 25th Feb.

Italy. 229. Deaths 6
Germany 16. Deaths 0
France 12. Deaths 1
UK 13. Deaths 0

WHO situation report for 9th March

Italy 7375. Deaths 366
germany. 1112. Deaths 0
France. 1116. Deaths. 19
UK. 277. Deaths 2

Note these are from yesterday. The situation report takes about 48hours to catch up hence why 2 deaths and not 6, similarly the number of cases.

France and Germany both announced cases 3 days before Italy and put in preventive measures. Sadly Italy didn’t, also there is a belief that it was in Italy much earlier than France a Germany.

But if I read that correctly we are doing much better than France without putting in any measures ourselves?
