I would have thought that it should be accounted for, that we have trained and nurtured this player for a few seasons, therefore our investment would outweigh any previous 'dues' toward Chelsea by now.

Just my theory on it, but we should be compensated for that anyway.

He certainly seems to have gone backwards in the last 2 seasons, but some of that comes back to style of play.

exactly - it's not an open and shut case. There are a number of factors and not all of them are down to the lardy jocko.

That is why I can get to grips with why so many on here see it as an either or question.

This might be silly, but other strikers have gone for more in the past that were yet to prove a higher standard.

Lua-Lua
Stead
etc.

Coming to the end of his contract we could rely on a tribunal if he is eligible.

I am hoping we get a windfall, but I can't see him going for more than £150k if we are keen to get rid of him, and of course this is well documented.
