Gareth mate. I love you dearly, albeit in a manly non-gay way.

But you're an idiot on this one.

a) The police presence is to try and prevent a terrorist atrocity as was visited on the Thatcher government in 1984. Would you have it any other way?

b) This 'shower of a government' were the ones who were DIRECTLY responsible for taking a Balls Of Steel lead in keeping the cashpoints dispensing money this time last year, when those ****ish bankers, the REAL Enemy Within, came THAT close to destroying our Western way of life and causing unprecedented rioting in every town and city in the UK and possibly every other developed country also. Labour have set us back 30 years? Arguable. But if they hadn't acted when they did, the bankers would have knocked us back into the social and economic stability of the Middle Ages. The government's failure to act decisively when they did would have led directly to a Peasants Revolt of the kind not seen for hundreds of years. Our way of life would have collapsed completely like a flimsy house of cards in a matter of weeks. Fact.

Your barking up the wrong tree. Remember, it was the financial services sector that got us up this creek and which sector does young Mr Spielberg work in?

Forgive me if I misunderstand the situation but was the banking collapse not at least a partial result of the de-regulation of the banking/ financial services sector that has taken place under this f***ing 'government'??!!

It is also arguable whether this 'government' acted in a timely manner - which gives the lie to the secondary banner currently on the front of the Brighton Centre spouting shite about Labour somehow aiding economic recovery!!

Browns target deficit was 40% of GDP and it is now running at 80% - Labour have f***ed us up massively!!

Speaking of Tebbit in the mid 1980s I was living in a shared house, and one of the women was shagging a fireman who claimed to have helped save caring Norman and his wife.I naturally verbably chastised this thick peasant for his endeavours, but he did inform me that while Norm and his immobile wife were in hospital in Brighton, they brought a fridge for the nurses to use for their sandwiches and soft drinks . When caring Norm and his now cabbage wife left Brighton , the fridge went with them.

Typical of Thatcher's caring Government.

I carry no torch for either Labour or Tories but I find shite like this hard to stomach when the gap between rich and poor has worsened after 12 years of 'socialism'!!

And frankly your piss-taking out of a woman who has suffered more than you ever will at the hands of terrorist vermin marks you out as a prick of the highest order!!

They have been erecting all manner of tents and security units all week. They have now erected a 4 foot metal barrier between the car lanes on the sea front.

They have steel barriers and numerous Policemen outside the Metropole and the Grand.

Last night at 8pm trying to get along from Hove to Brighton I was treated to a 30 minute delay as they bollarded off a lane and cars crept by 1 at a time at 1mph with the numerous Coppers questioning the drivers as the crawled by  TOTALLY over the top and unecessary.

Do NOT even consider driving on the seafront for the next 8 days.

Not only have this shower of a government ( the worst of all time ) destroyed this country and set it back 30 years I/WE have to put up with these morons coming to Brighton and inconveniencing everyone even MORE.

I HATE Gordon Brown with a passion.

Just DO ONE and go somewhere else. Your NOT welcome here.

That is all.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, you really are a bit of prat.

World's supply of police down in town today. Pretty impressive turnout really, and nobody being unduly hassled so far as I could see - oh, apart from maybe Thomas The Tank Engine

Ok. I don't HAVE to drive along the sea front but its normally quicker and less distance. I will have to go over the flyover to Lewes right through Kingston and then left along the side road to Newhaven. Its still an inconvenience though.

Or... you could TAKE THE TRAIN.

TLO - not that US can't defend himself but trains along the coast are a pain in the arse. Your regular trip from London Road to Lewes is a three stop piece of piss. Travel from west of Brighton and you sometimes have to change at Hove just to get to or from Brighton. They stopped connecting trains between East & West Coastway a while back so you either end up with a mad sprint across the platforms or a 20 minute wait.

I travel from West Worthing to Lewes every day. Even in the morning rush it is normally around 35 minutes door to door by car. I'd use the train if convenient but with the changes etc it would take nearly three times longer.

As for Lord B's comment about the bypass, why should someone take a detour which adds several miles to his journey when there is a perfectly good road to use. If US caught your favourite buses then he'd still be inconvenienced by the conference as they would use the same roads.

Some people need to realise that while Public transport can be great but it is not convenient for all.

Rant over:rant:
