i really dont want kuipers anywhere near the coaching staff - the reason he is so good is shot stopping and reactions, which are more natural than anything else. the other aspects of his game such as kicking, starting position and decision making which can all be taught are his weaker areas

he could however offer a HUGE amount in the football in the community scheme or behind the scenes. a guy with his reputation and infectious personality would be ideal in either working with young fans or wowing clients

Quite the opposite - the things that made MK a great keeper in his day, were the bits you can't teach - reactions / presence. The weaker parts of his game - decisions on when to leave your line / angles / etc are the mainstay of a keeping coaches work, I would think.

With that sort of thinking how can you explain the success of managers like Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger?

Great servant, especially before he got injured in the season we stayed up in the Championship, but well past his best, so time to move on. The calamity moments were getting just too frequent in recent times - Norwich's winner for example. Hopefully will get a testimonial though. Agree with the point about not getting another keeper like Smith, though. Did anyone see his comedy performance against Motherwell the other night?
