A real boost seeing him back. The sort of player who is determined to make things happen. Reminds me of Knocky a little in that respect.

Was thinking earlier, with Buonanotte's recent rapid improvement playing through the middle, the thought of watching the two of them together with Barco next season when they're all another year older and have this season's experience under their belt, is a really exciting prospect for next season.

Big call for RDZ to leave if he does get an offer as I think any manager in world football would love to have these three young attackers available to them.

Our early season performances hinged on him and the drop off after his injury was plain to see. So happy he's back and looking just as good already.

Agreed it's great to see him back but that's not true. He only played 2 minutes against Luton and then 67 minutes against Wolves before the injury.

But he was excellent in those 67 mins against Wolves, his and March link up play was excellent, showed a real understanding and he setup both March goals. Wolves breathed a massive sigh of relief when he went off.

The translation of the tweet says Brighton would have given permission which to me implies he would have gone had they picked him. Of course the translation might not be 100% accurate.


He wasn’t named in their squad or as one of their alternative standby choices, im not sure they can change that list after the closing date for submission which was around the start of July, and they’ve already called up one from that replacement list due to injury.

I hate that the Olympics has a a half-arse football tournament involving young highly paid professional players. We already have a World Cup, other sports needs the oxygen that the Olympics gives them without football overshadowing things as usual.

Whoever wins the Olympics football has less meaning to me than who wins the Men's javelin or the Women's judo.

Probably not, but would make more sense than Barco since Estupinan is injured (while plenty could play wherever Enciso is going to play).

Generally wonky tournament... for the clubs there's nowhere near the same security as in FIFA/UEFA hosted tournaments. If you get someone injured on Olympic duty, getting some sort of compensation or insurance money is far from as straight up as when it happens on FIFA duty.

I’ve seen articles suggesting both that we blocked Barco going and that we’d given permission (which would imply he just wasn’t selected). So it seems no one knows for sure what has happened there.

During the qualifiers it was mentioned in commentary that we’d blocked Facundo being called up for the qualifying tournament.

We were going to block Mac Allister going to the last olympics but he asked the club if he could go and we changed our minds. Argentina were shit and he was back for the start of the season, coming off the bench to score the winner away to Burnley on the opening day of the 21-22 season.

It certainly wouldn't be ideal if, and I don't know this to be the case, one player has been allowed to go and one not.
