Jevons agrees Bristol City switch

Phil Jevons won October's player of the month
Yeovil Town striker Phil Jevons has agreed to join Bristol City.
Jevons, who has been top goalscorer at Huish Park for the last two seasons, will join City on a two-year deal on a Bosman free transfer.

"There was interest from other clubs in the north," chairman Stephen Lansdown told BBC Radio Bristol.

"Obviously his relationship with Gary Johnson is a big factor, and Bristol City as a club and the potential of the club was also a major factor."

Hang on - you're allowed to make SIGNINGS now ?

I thought you were only allowed to sign players a week before the season kicks off. Surely McGhee is on a well-earned holiday right now, I doubt he's even had a chance to view the tape yet of that sixteen year-old second division Peruvian midfielder. It hardly seems fair that other clubs can start building for next season while we're still scratching our arses choosing flipflops for the summer.

Outrageous.

We aren't in a position to sign anyone because we still dont appear to have decided who we want to keep out of the 9 players we have out of contract. The sooner we get that sorted then we can start prioritising the type of players we need to bring in and assess what budget (if any) we have to bring them in.

Decisions decisions eh.
Three weeks after the season ended (officially at least, its been well over a month since McGhee decided that the season had in fact finished after 44 games), and several players STILL don't know if they've got a job or not.

What an attractive proposition coming to the Albion must be for any prospective signings.

Why would McGhee be deciding who or not to keep after the Wednesday game, when he didn't know himself whether he was still going to be in charge?

Because he was still being paid to do his job? Maybe the club wouldn't have acted upon his decisions immediately but surely he should be expected to be thinking ahead?

Planning and thinking ahead is soooo 2002. Its all the rage now to do things off the cuff. Spur-of-the-moment type thing, y'know, anything goes, leave it till the last minute, worry about it later, it'll sort itself out in the end. Sven is a true pioneer of the game in this respect, and I think its rather inspiring to see our own club following this enlightened philosophy.

Perhaps they also have to consider whether viable alternatives can be found and if anyone could do a better job in that position, before finalising who to release. God knows we need some late 20 somethings and mature players. We have a very young squad as it is.

Most of the players may now know, and they are waiting for all the decisions to come about. There is nothing to say we are not looking at players, at the moment.

We don't find out everything immediatly.
