Is Russell Slade a good appointment?

I think the board have done a great job, to get a proven manager to accept an 8 week contract can't have been easy.

My first reaction was one of disappointment but now I have had time to digest everything I think Baldy Slade is a good appointment. I know lots of people were after a big name but lets face it if a big name came in and had success we wouldn't have seen them for dust. Good to see lots of new faces in the squad...we'll be okay!

I have no idea yet as I hardly know anything about he guy, but he gets my support at least until the end of the season, even if we end up getting relegated as the blame for that will be laid at MA and DK's door imo.

The bottom line is that while it's by no means an exciting appointment, it might prove to be very practical for the situation we're in. I'm certainly happier with Slade than Pardew at this moment in time.

I would have liked him to have a totally free hand on his staff, though. That's something Knight has never quite grasped.
