Best right back since...Chris Cattlin. Totally different in style to Calde but better than any others mentioned so far IMO.

A lot of people are forgetting how incredible Watson was. Our famous quick freekick routine between him and Zamora won us the crucial tight games which in turn won us the league. I'd estimate Watson was directly involved in about a third of our goals in our promotion seasons.

He was slow and often got skinned (as did Mayo on the other side) but that didn't matter as Cullip was a monster. A superb full back at this level and great servant to the club.

As for his freekicks, I distinctly remember being 2-0 down at a home game and Paul Rogers winning a free kick around 30 yards out. Some wise guy behind me said loudly "He's supposed to be a free kick specialist - but he's SHIT" - Watto steps up and bends it into the top corner.

Watto is one of my favourite all time Albion players

(But Calderon is better)

Calderon and Watto are definitely are par with each other. The only thing which wins it for Watto was his deadly set-piece taking which ten times out of ten were pinpointed on BZ head.
They are no way near on par with each other.Watson had a superb delivery and that's it.Calderon beats him hands down in every other department.

I thought he wasnt all that when he was going to Southampton, just a decent right back, who will find many more of. Not that important a position to the team etc etc

Must admit I still cant "like" Calderon as much as the other players for the way he was whoreing himself to Pardews Stains.

Best right back? He didn't play for us all that long, but Don Shanks was pure class. John Gregory and Gary Stevens were pretty good too.

I'd say Gary Stevens, although probably should take Martin Keown into account as he was obviously pretty handy.
