but a win rate of 35.2%, which is about the historical avarage for BHA managers

and remember that cup games are included in this total, not just league games

So your saying that Wilkins is no better , no worse than any other " average " Brighton manager.
IF you take out the records of Mullery & Adams I reckon thats about right.

Dean Wilkins's managerial career

Team From To Games Won Lost Drawn
Brighton 08-09-2006 Present PLD. 85 WON 30 DRAWN 34 LOST 21

Has had slightly longer than a season ................................

Mmm, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid that really isn't correct.

We have definately lost more games than we've won under Wilkins.

This year P29 W10 D9 L10
Last Yr P46 W14 D10 L22 Which makes Wilkins record last year
P40 W12 D9 L19
Total P69 W22 D18 L29 (League Only)

To be honest I have seen nothing from Wilkins to make me believe he has anymore ability as a manager than Martin Hinshelwood.

I think the time that Wilkins is given depends a great deal on what is happening with Falmer. The club must aspire to being in the championship in the first season in the new stadium ensuring a decent number of Season tickets, decent away support etc.

If Falmer is on track for 2010 and we are struggling to compete during the 08-09 season i think we will see wilkins replaced. If Falmer behind schedule then he could be given longer.

I reckon

Sitting in mid-table, with games in hand, isn't exactly "taking us down".

Games in hand mean nothing if we don't win them...and 17th isn't exactly mid-table but we are only 4 points behind Oldham in 10th place.

We do need to start putting some points together pretty soon though-like at least another 15 to be safe...

Considering the financial constraints and the struggle to attract decent players to play at Withdean (would you want to play there?!) he's done a decent job so far.

We have probably got one of the smallest playing budgets in the division, so to expect him to perform miracles and be in the promotion shake-up is for the deluded.

Interesting stuff.

62 points would be firmly mid table... which is what most people expected this season.

Why is wilkins the only one who can use this as an excuse to fail?

All the other DECENT managers we have had have achieved, the only ones that havent in the last few years are the ones that have been employed internally by the club!

Paying out 300k on a player even before hammond left and we got that isnt a small budget...granted were no forest, leeds or swansea....soon the excuses will run out.

Small budget or no small budget..........there is no way we can accept 4k gates and consistantly the worst performances we have seen since hinshelwood and jeff wood!

62 points is optimistic.

First 16 games:

W8 D3 L5 Pts 27

Last 13 games:

W2 D6 L5 Pts 12

Nothing to suggest we are about to start re-capturing early season form at the moment either? Also, those two wins have come against sides firmly in the relegation scrap, Bournemouth and Crewe.
