I do not believe that we need Westlake now as we have players that can do as good a job both on the left (McLeod) and in the centre of midfield (Thomson and Livermore).

I think that Virgo will play as either a centre back instead of Lynch or compete for right back with El Abd as I think that Whing will go in January. Whatever happens I hope that we do not play Virgo as a forward as he is no better than Gatting playing there.

Virgo as holding midfield as per Adam El Abd in the friendlies?

I know all about the Murray rumours of discontent, but have I missed something about Whing ?

Is his contract up in January then ? Did he only sign for a year for us after his loan spell run out then ?


What makes you feel Whing will go in January ? I thought he was settled here, and there doesn't seem any indication yet ( still early I know ) that his 1st choice spot as right back has changed under Adams.

I imagine BG is putting 2+2 together and making 5. Adams loaned us Whing from Coventry and then let him go the next season when he came here. I suggest BG thinks Adams doesn't rate him? The fact that he is now playing League 1 rather than the Championship may make the difference to Adams opinion though I would have thought. He is a specialist right back, why would we sell him when we haven't got another one, not forgetting that did a reasonable job last season?

After I posted I had a similiar thought, though couldn't remember if Adams was still at Coventry when we got him on loan.

Personally, Whing tends to wind me up more than any other player we have. I think he's a fairly solid defender and I have confidence in him playing there for us, but does he like to hoof it out of defence or what ? !

but as i keep telling bg micky recalled him from the loan spell and he was a regular in the team when micky left coventry
