Hull Stewards & Police

Worst Stewards were QPR, absolutely no clue. Best I would say are Bristol City although a lot of them come from Cardiff.

As far as Policing goes I would say that most forces are fine. You be polite and friendly to them and you'll get respect back. I've had more than a few friendly conversations all over with Policemen and Women all over the place and the only really obnoxious ones I've met recently were the muppets at Smellworst Park. Made my already low opinion of the Met even lower. Mind you from several conversations it appears that many regional Police forces don't have much time for the Met anyway.

We moan about the Police here but try living in some of the less salubrious areas of the self proclaimed World's Greatest Democracy and then you'll realise the vast majority of our Police are bloody good value.

Because some of us enjoy the whole 'match day experience' that is football.

If you want to bang on about match day regulations, sitting down etc then it merely proves that you lack the same kind of passion as many others on this board do.

I was making the point that some people on here will give others a hard time for their behaviour at football matches but when its 'one of their own' the seem to defend them.

People that know me would certainley tell you I get a bit 'excited'
at the football and I can hardly be accused of lacking passion about my football

Notts Forest?

Sheff Utd were a pain.

Saw Town at Bournemouth a few years ago and the Bournemouth stewards were a pain

Oh and another thing, most stewards are complete arseholes and twats. They don't possess even the slightest amount of common sense and in many cases are the cause of problems inside the grounds. God knows where they source them from, there must be some sort of pool or agency of failed doorstaff somewhere. I took great delight last season in threatening to eject a steward from Withdean for being heavy handed and over zealous to a group of Plymouth fans causing no particular problems other than shouting some mild abuse at the Ref!

In my experiance its the police who cause most the problems. I remember going to a Chelsea game and they shut the gate to the tube platform but not the station, hence a crush and a fight erupted. Then theres incidents at the old goldstone I remember were they lock about 100 southend fans in one week and then let out over a 1,000 millwall at the end the following week, result riot.

I think you'll find stewards vary from Ground to Ground depending on recruitment and training. This seems to be the case for coppers as well and I wouldn't put the brighton police anywhere near the top.

I would like to know how the police choose which games they send extra riot police to.

A couple of seasons ago we played Sheff Wed (who never cause any problems) on Easter Monday at Withdean.
The whole place was crawling with police, vans, cctv etc all the way along London Rd.

I wonder whether it was anything to do with double pay on Bank Holidays?

To be fair there, we were both in danger of being relegated that day so tensions would have been a lot higher than normal, hence the higher police presence.

And to answer you question about pay. My ex is a cop. If they want they can either take it at 1.5x pay or just take the hours in leau, which most tend to do.

I remember the Kill, Kill, Kill the bill chants in the North Stand and the police getting a few slaps, but they always seemed to come off the better due to the fact the cowards always used their truncheons!

Stewards wise - Forest, Sunderland and Hull are very well known for being utter wankers.

Mainly because I got kicked out at Forest.

This man was drunk and in clear breach of ground regulations, why should the club support him ?

Did you breathalyse him so know this to be true?

Quite a few commenting on these incidents from people not at the game!

People having beer before football tut tut tut, bad behaviour!

Anyway see all you loyal fans at Shrewsbury tomorrow night (after visiting a few pubs i'm afraid). Sorry, what do you mean your not going? Still can some of you post indepth match reports even though you will not be at Gay Meadow, perhaps you could do the match report by Chinese whispers as it will be about as accurate as some of the postings on this thread!

Well you better own up to Mr Perry and be banned from Withdean. Name and address please so you can receive your "bad fan" certificate from NSC

It's not particularly difficult to get out of the temporary ban Mr P seems to hand to anyone and everyone who gets kicked out.

You won't get arrested, so just say a false name. Then they give you a nice little sheet on with your 'name' and the reasons why you have been kicked out etc. Very friendly.

Forest lasy year - mid-week, was a f***ing farce.

i got escorted to the dor and then "spoken" to, just for sticking my finger up at some chav yelling abuse at us from above.

But give him his due, once away from the crowd, the steward was pretty ok, being as he let me back in.;)

Football games are easy to police because your lot can just lock people up as they want - we're all in a confined space and it's like taking candy off a baby (even if we've done nothing wrong).
Yeah, jonogulls. This happens all the time at Withdean, doesn't it?

How many HUNDREDS of arrests have there been in the last couple of seasons?

I'd guess thousands. If not 10.

Standing up is a breach of ground regulations not a criminal act whatever some twat steward might think.

The two gentlemen my posts referred to left the ground with no fuss when asked to. Other than taking their details the police took no further action (again, because no criminal act had taken place) and,in fact, told my mates that they felt the stewarding was over the top.

In my experience individual coppers (Met & Northampton excepted) are often ok. The problem lies with football being one of the few "industries" in which the views of "consumers" seem to be of no relevance.

Fair enough but NSC does love a witch hunt and no doubt a few people on this thread are enjoying the gossip because it is covering up the fact that they have nothing of interest going on in their own lives.

try a forum search and type in McCammon and Richie Morris if you want to see the results of a witch hunt, you seem to have started or contributed to an unhealthy amount of threads on the fellow last season
