I've been giving since 1980.

Last year I was in Boston (Mass that is) while there was a blood drive on. Some woman ran in front of me and started hassling me to give blood. When I explained that I'd given in London only a couple of weeks previously, she ran away as if I had an infectious disease shouting "We don't want your blood", adding for good measure "Mad cow".

Funnily enough, I thought exactly the same thing.

Why is that? Seems a bit strange.

Oh and if I am diabetic (waiting for blood test results) does that mean I can no longer give any???

Dont give blood exactly, but am on the Anthony Nolan bone marrow doner lists, nearly got selected last year, down to the last two for compatability, but the other doner was a closer match, was a bit dissappointed too.

I know i sound like a wuss, but after a few nasty incidents with needles before some of my operations, i cant even look at a needle really anymore. Also i may have had a blood transfusion (am going to have to check my medical records) when i had a toe to finger transplant, so apparrently i cant.

I'm not allowed under the Irish system rules - had Jaundice as a baby. Also, the company that runs it here is a basketcase, so I'm not sure I want one of their undertrained needle jockeys attacking my arm.
