But Les...to be born an Englishman is to win first prize in the lottery of life.

Ingrate.

But its like celebrating the fact that I'm human. I just am.

Why do people make more of a deal about Patricks Day rather than Georges Day??

Doesnt make sense, Paddys day every finds some weird kind of ooiirsh ancestory that qualifies them to play fot the national football team, then spends 15 hours of the day drinking, because it is promoted by every pub

st georges day, you may get a cross hanging outside or a window, and one of them crappy ones flying ontop of a car, but no pubs encourage binge drinking or offer any kind of celebration apart from 50p off all fish n chips

I would go as far as saying why celebrate either?

Why celebrate anything? I happily 'celebrate' Easter I.e Take 2 days off work when I'm not particularly religious. I'd happily celebrate St Georges day by having a bank holiday and drinking cut price booze all day if that is the excuse.

St George may be Turkish and probably only slayed nothing more than a large cow. I don't think Its any more outlandish than celebrating 3 wise men giving gifts to a women who claims she wasn't knocked up by her carpenter husband.

It's also my wife's birthday. So Happy Birthday darling, (not that she reads NSC but at least I can point this post out to her and tell her I remembered). And Happy St George's Day to all patriotic Englishmen - and bollocks to all those who think it's somehow a bit racist.
