..I sometimes think Poyet thinks this is his club and he is more than just a temporary employee.

I've thought this more than once and I think it's going to get him in trouble. It's almost as if he wants to ostracise the supporters (he rarely says anything positive about us anyway) and I think this attitude will not be welcomed by TB who is quite the opposite.

No hiding from the fact that the goalie and the team were VERY poor first half, however, the mug in approx row S in N1D who started the 'this is embarrasing' chant should have been removed and given a pasting, what an absolute twat...

Obviously I wasn't there so I can't comment on whether the booing was justified in any way.

But surely Gus has experienced far worse in terms of fans' expectations and reactions as a player in South America, Zaragoza and quite possibly Chelsea. He sees his future as a top class manager but he will hear a lot worse if he ever manages at a higher level.

I thought people were booing the ref?

That's who I aimed my booing at. Ref was hopeless, player pushed Barnes in the face and got a yellow, so he definitely saw it - the only thing he got right in the first half was their penalty!

Second half the challenge on KLL was cynical.

Totally disagree with booing the team, didnt like it all and knew it would provoke this reaction from Gus.

But I do also feel Gus needs to be a little more thick skinned about it. He reacted the same way last season when some, admittedly moronic, fans were questioning our passing style.

Last night happened because we have had such an amazing season and a lot of fans got hopes up that we would make the play offs. Unfortunately our form has disapeared in the last few weeks and we just had to witness an attrocious 135 minutes of football, conceding 8 goals, following some slightly eccentric team selections. Add to the mix another poor referee and I think you can understand the frustration of some fans. They just need to channel it a different way.

You will get a critical and vocal minority at every club though and Gus should be able to rise above it and praise the majority who support the team fantastically.

Sums it up for me and for someone who wants to manage at a bigger club then it is something he is going to have to get used to. Chelsea boo their team off at half time if they are only 1-0 up against perceived inferior teams!!!

Did not agree with the booing but is was a minority and think it is wrong of gus to bring this up especially considering the fantastic support given to the team in the second half

I'm a big fan of Gus, but he needs to remember two games in a row he started with a shit line-up.

If he wants players to have a chance then he should take them down the casino at the weekend, not piss around with a team looking to get into the play-offs.

And most of the boos were aimed at the ref anyway.

I feel Gus is going to walk soon. If he continues to get headlines like "Gus ask fans to stay at home" and continues to publicly criticise the chairman. Who undoubtedly is the bigger BHA hero then I not sure he is looking like the man who can handle it.

Wish I could be closer to Gus I would ask him about his ego and what he does with players that display this media behaviour.

The thing that really seems to have got Gus' back up is the sarcastic cheer that Gonzales got from the North Stand after making a save. In that respect I totally agree with Gus. You've got a keeper on debut and his own fans are taking the piss out of him. How exactly is that going to help his confidence?

He really doesn't care what anyone else thinks. He makes some daft statements (like the Barcelona one in his interview) and seemingly doesn't credit anyone other than himself with any intelligence. He continually goes on about how we should be fighting relegation with the budget we have (and I don't buy that one shred) and he comes across to me like he's absolving himself of responsibility for pretty well every performance

Yes we've done well this season, but we've f***ed it up by taking only 11 points from the last 11 games and I think Gus should be man enough to at least acknowledge that, but what we get is him telling supporters not to show up if they don't like it. Sorry that's both arrogant and unprofessional

to be fair, we were 4th, on set for the play offs and he decided to change it at burnley and play barnes alone up front in our most important game for years.

he f00ked it and blamed the ref and had a paddy.

reading was massive and we played well but toothless strikers meant no goals.

west ham was then massive, but he had already thrown in the towel - we got hammered. his excuse is that we need to spend more and get better players, but he did not say this after the reading game. he does like a flippant sulk sometimes.

we win or play well - "i tried to do this, we do this" when we lose "the players are not good enough."

then after 3 massive defeats that ruin our season, we are 0-2 down at HT playing like it is pre-season - some ppl boo, this i think is fair and to be expected, imagine if he was manager at newcastle or sunderland - there would have been protests.

dont get me wrong, i like gus, but he has his faults and errors, but never admits them.

some ppl went to burnley and west ham, and took a kid or two - spending hundreds - they are entitled to boo players when they are not doing what they are paid to do.

rich players and managers need to accept in football you get the plaudits when good, and the aggro when bad. same in any job.

too many ppl on here think gus is god, most half decent managers would have got us to the top 10 with £5m and the new stadium - but i like gus' contacts and style of play, and see us challenging next year.

Gus is a very good manager but he is a long way from being special. Being able to take criticism is something every manager has to cope with and Gus is no different in this respect.

Totally agree his arrogance is getting near to the level of "The Chosen One" with the achievement of an average manager given the budget etc. He is treading a very fine line especially with his attitude towards the chairman. One day TB might take up his offer of going home. I know if I was chairman I'd be pretty pissed off with some of his comments.

A completely shite first half, combined with a debutante keeper who lived up to his nickname of 'clangers'? Coming after a 6-0 defeat to one of our supposed promotion rivals, when Gus made an unfathomable te selection?

Is that enough for you?

I really want Gus to succeed, but he can stretch my patience.

By the way, Gus was close to invisible in the first 45 mins, why?

Pretty much this really. Shocking first half and to be honest we didn't see much of Gus in the second half. I suppose he didn't hear me from the WSU shouting get of your lazy arse and sort this shambles, or words to that effect.:cry:

It's just as well we have not got promoted this season as Gus' team selections will come under more intense scrutiny from a heap of different angles in the Prem. I don't support booing the team during a game but he has to get used to criticism as where we hope to go it will get a lot hotter.

Totally agree with all of this. Didn't boo last night but was getting frustrated at certain performances. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate the great season we've had, Poyet's great management or the gulf in class to what we've endured at some stages over the last 15 years. BUT, Poyet has to take the rough with the smooth and if he expects us to clap politely as yet another pass goes astray or Barnes falls to the floor theatrically instead of controlling the ball and playing football then I'm afraid he's in the wrong sport.

you pay your money you take you pick.

You hear this argument over and over again. Quality managers and players also choose the clubs they want to join and take their pick. The whole togetherness of a club is defined by sharing the highs as well as the lows. I've no doubt the people who boo are the same people who laud it up like they are the best friggin supporters in the world when we win. I was kicking the chair in front I was so angry at the first half performance last night, but I'm not boo'ing my team off at half time, especially not after the effort they've put in this season.

In context though, Gus should also accept that at 2-0 down the supporters DID get right behind his team for the 2nd half. I think his quotes show a lot of emotion and in retrospect, the team were well supported for most of the game.

i didnt boo - but as a general rule dont mind boos - you pay your money you take you pick. 6 nil on sat and 2 nil down at half time with another dodgy team selection... this thread was more about selection and tactics than booing.
