What about that FA Cup 5th (?) round replay game at Stamford Bridge when Ron Challis cheated us out of at least a draw. Probably a defining moment in our rivalry with the scum.

A few personal choices that haven't been mentioned (I don't think) they reflect my age:

Brighton 2 Luton 0 1972/3
This ended a 13 game string of defeats and it was against a side that was flying high at the time. Saward opted to throw the youngsters Towner and Hilton in and they tore Luton apart.

Blackburn 0 Brighton 1 77/78
Both sides were on the edge of the promotion race and anything but a win would effectively end either side's promotion hopes. Result was that both sides flew at each other full pelt for 90 minutes and Potts scored our late winner. Could easily have been 9-9. Seagull Special got back to Brighton 1 minute before last orders, a perfect day. Next game was Spurs at home...

Orient 3 Brighton 3 78/79
Chivers scores for us, Coates scores for Orient. Great goals, classy entertainment this was in the days when Orient specialised in attracting ageing talent.

In recent years, the wins at London Road have been a bit special

Games I wish I'd been at

Liverpool 1-2 BHA FACup 83
Newcastle (a) 79
Hereford (a) 96
BHA 7-0 Charlton (83)
Notm Forest 0-1 BHA (80)

I was at all of those apart from the Forest one, we were 12/1 to win that game. I don't think Forest had been beaten for 50 odd games at home and were European Champions (I think). Has to be one of the biggest ever Div 1 upsets. Didn't Ryan score very early and our goal was shooting practice for the rest of the game?

Peterborough away in the Fa cup in 86-87 season, 7,000 Albion fans. What a day, 2-1 down and scored in the 86 minute to level the tie and force a replay. I was behind the goal with the other 6,500 Albion faithfull the other 500 was in the seats, Can only describe the celebrations after that goal as complete and utter bedlem.

The atmosphere was unbelieveble.
It was like sardines in that end but that IS the best atmosphere i have ever experienced at an Albion game.every one got a red scarf with their ticket if i remember.Goalscorers?..Jacobs and????

Great atmosphere but I honestly thought I was going to get dangerously crushed - I've never been so scared on a football terrace. They should never have allowed 6,000 on that pokey terrace.

Anyway it was a waste of time in the end because in the next round Eric Young decided it was a good idea to step aside and chaperone Glen Cockerill into our penalty box with the ball at his feet and we spent the rest of the game looking clueless.

That was actually the 1st round in 1976, 2nd replay. Challis was due to referee at the Goldstone the following week, but for some strange reason, he was removed from the game!!!

Missed the Walsall game that season as we couldn't have got there until half time!!!

Best games been to:

Derby - League Cup 4th RD 1976 - Peter Ward scored inside first 90 secs

Newcastle away - May 79 - my Sister's birthday. Coach arrived at Durham at 6am for breakfast, and we weren't the first coach from Sussex there!

Man Ure away Oct 79 - walking to Old Trafford from Seagull Special at Warwick Road with Man U fans on both pavements whilst we were walked in road with Police escort. Hearing the roar from the Stretford End through the terrace entrance when teams came out for pre match warm up

Nottm Forest home 79/80 when Gary Williams scored in last minute from 30 yds against Peter Shilton to complete double over Forest.

Home game v Liverpool, 80/81 I think, midweek, 3-1 down with 5 mins to go, drew 3-3. Superb comeback

Semi v Sheff Weds
Final v Man Ure

Ipswich away last season - great support, great fighting display from the team.

Sardines! Those were the days. Yes you are right about the free scarf with the match ticket. Can't think of the other goal scorer and I'm suppose to be a brighton fan

I've never ever seen an atmosphere as good as that at any other brighton game.

Thats correct about the scarf with the match ticket, Can't remember our second goal scorer and I'm suppose to be a brighton fan

But I'll second that about the atmosphere, Nothing will ever beat that day.

The one I wish I was at - Hereford away (no ticket)

The one I wouldn't have missed for the world - spanking Mansfield 6-0 in the first league game back in Brighton.

Most memorable single moment - the free kick that got us in to the playoffs v Ipswich.

Other personal favourite - being at Molienuex and seeing the Albion destroy Wolves - then hearing on the way out over the tannoy that Liverpool had beaten Palarse 9-0 :lolol:

Forest away last season was something special. Despite the result it was a realisation of how far we had come. It was also one of the best atmosphere's in recent years.

Add to that the 2-1 win at home over Bristol City two years back when Steeley nodded in the winner.

Missed Hereford. :(

Obviously a lot of great games mentioned above, one that i particularly remember was 1-1 away at Luton, with Maybank scoring an equaliser. The Albion chants were pinging back off the home stand, there really were a lot of us there that day. An important point on the run in for second division promotion or was it the season we just missed out on ?

A cracker. I had a run in with the police that day as well. I was living near Grantham at the time, and after the game it took me a good 20 minutes to convince an over zealous policeman that I really really didn't want to be herded onto the London train along with the other thousands of Albion fans at the station. It wasn't until I produced my RAF id card that he let me go onto the northbound platform.
