Ever listened to a new band. bought the album which was amazing, waited for the next release and bought it as soon as it came out, but it turned out to McCammon compared to Peter Ward?

1. The Stone Roses
2. Pearl Jam

I disagree to a point here. The Second Coming is not a patch on the first album but it does stand alone as a decent record. What hampers is was the sheer genuis of the debut and the fact there was 5 years between both releases...People expected something really special from the second offering.

As for Pearl Jam I think the Vs is a pretty good album. Granted, 10 was amazing but I do not think the follow-up should be labelled as crap.

Albion, England & Stone Roses forever.

The Holy Bible is an awesome album, far superior imo to generation terrorists(not that GT is bad- motorcycle emptiness, you love us, little baby nothing are all great, great songs).

And mezzanine is also a great album. Maybe not quite as good as blue lines but a great album noe the less.

My nomination is...

Cast.

It wasn't the follow-up to Generation Terrorists though.

You're right. Nor was mezzanine the album directly after blue lines.:dunce:

I mistook the original post to mean a band that starts off with a great debut and then spirals down into a morass of crap.

The democratic and free EU
Inflammable Material - Stiff Little Fingers.

Anything they did after that was bound to sound dull by comparison (just like with Leftism and anything else Leftfield did, as mentioned above).

You might well be right. I assumed it was bands who made good debuts and shite follow ups.

Mezzanine is BRILLIANT!

Only it's at least their third album, I think protection was their second after blue lines.Just read the rest of thread and see someone has already pointed this out

And Leftism is a f***ing brilliant piece of work.

Does he do any Marillion songs or just solo stuff?

Last time I saw him the only Marillion he did was Market Square Heroes as an encore, but this time round it's the Misplaced Childhood 20th Anniversary tour. He's doing one set of solo stuff, then Misplaced Childhood right through plus a few other Marillion bits, from what I've heard from people who went to some of the earlier dates.

Sounds like a very good ticket to hold.....apart from the solo set ;)

Recently picked up 'Recital of the Script' on VHS in a charity shop.

As far as I know there's still tickets left for it. Or, there were yesterday when I checked for a mate of mine.

Recital is great...goodness knows what he's doing with that plant during The Web though. And he does go rather mental in Forgotten Sons & Grendel. I got Live At Loreley (in a charity shop strangely enough), which I thought was ruined by some tart jumped round on a podium singing backing vocals.

Yeah, am just about to check with a mate to see if he fancies it. Cheers for the info.
