It's a tricky one.

I've witnessed a near-identical situation to that of Goody's in the last few weeks. A 31-year-old friend of mine, terminally ill with cancer, got married on January 21st and passed away less than three weeks later. The wedding was both beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time because everyone knew what was just around the corner. Of course there was no press coverage, nor would the families wouldn't have wanted there to be.

However, tasteless as it might seem at times, I can understand why Goody is doing what she is. She wants to secure her kids' future, and can do that by selling photos, interviews etc, along with raise awareness of her illness - if just a couple of women are saved by having smears when they should then she will have achieved arguably more than she ever did in life.

I think its great that awareness has been raised and as you say, if only a few are saved from all the press coverage surrounding Goody then great. However, I cannot imagine it would have been her intention to save others. No one, least of all Jade Goody, would strive for martyrdom to that extent, she is doing it for her own needs. Whilst indirectly, awareness will have been raised, I think the primary issue is 'oh look, a celebrity with a terminal illness'. A year ago, she was racist scum and people hated her. I think it's vile, all the pictures of her in hospital and essentially on her death bed.

I have found it interesting how the different news stations have reacted to the whole situation. An example was last week when a woman wielding a hammer allegedly entered her room in the hospital trying to attack her. BBC made a small reference to it in their evening programme, but ITV had a reporter outside the hospital and everything. Everyone knows that the stories you get on the news are invariably negative, and I find the extent to which institutions such as ITV and Hello magazine have exploited Jade Goody's situation quite frankly disgusting.

I Agree but she was looking for the money which i can understand it was her choice to do it so i dont blame Hello nor jade because i can understand if i was in the same position i would be trying to earn money for my children
but i do think its a bit tasteless showing pictures of her dying i believe it should be done behind closed doors and the press shouldnt be waiting outside her house for the inevitable news

Even though most people hated her guts before she got cancer, it would be a bit heartless not to sympathise with the vile creature wouldn't it - afterall, it could happen to any of us

I agree with that to an extent but she has now made an estimated 10 million for her kids. That is enough, so turn off the cameras, tell the journos to leave and spend the last few precious days with your family and children to have some quality time together alone.

Got to agree with that.

Of course if you don't like the Goody coverage change the channel or buy a different paper or ignore the magazine. There are plenty of ways to avoid her and sadly for her and her family she won't be around much longer.

If she dies before Tuesday evening I think the Walsall match should be called off as a mark of respect to allow us to reflect on what she has done for us all.

I have bought 20 bottles of her perfume to show how much I sympathise with her plight.

I hope that you will not have anything DISRESPECTFUL on that pile of pornographic filth of a website you own about our Jade. My husband told me about the 'NSP speaks ill of the dead' thread and I am OUTRAGED.

Is raising £10 million for her kids really in their best interests?

I'm sure her mother will have injected the kids inheritance by the time they leave school.

No one wishes such a terrible disease on such a young person, but it is a sad reflection that in a week in which a taxi driver has been found guilty of many sexual assaults, possibly running into many hundreds, and a young man has killed 17 people in Germany with a gun, that the tabloids and this message board seem more concerned about Ms Goody and her trainwreck of a family.

No one is more scum in all this than Max Clifford, utter, utter lowlife that bloke.

Wasn't he called in to try and raise as much money for Goody's kids as possible to secure their future? Don't see a problem in that. Plus he don't seem like a bad bloke. Wouldn't be surprised if he was donating his services for not very much money at all.

Max Clifford is merely doing a job that somebody else would have. there are plenty of people around doing their job quite legally who are a lot worse not to mention any criminal.

The only comparison i'd like to draw between the 2 would be if they both died in car crashes, only 1 of them would ever be missed though

Couldn't agree more. The word lacking from any reports at the moment is 'dignity'. Jade Goody hasn't got any and this whole tacky media love affair with her demise will probably have a far reaching negative effect on her children than the benefit of having £10 m to blow when they get older. At the end of the day, she has chosen to do this and that is therefore a reflection on her.
