Ok, I know the obvious ones:

- The Ordinary Boys
- 80s Matchbox B Line Disaster
- Hope of the States
- British Sea Power

and have heard rave reviews of The Kooks (going to check them out at their next gig) but are there any relatively unknown bands who people would recomend going to see?

There is a band that play the Portland rock bar quite often called Lick. They are bloomin superb and the lead singer is well worth a licking as well :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Another band that were very good but have recently split up are called Mama Joseph. they are another rock band like Lick but had some fantastic tunes and played with energy and enthusiasm everytime they went on stage

I have also heard good things about The Lovely Brothers and anyone who likes Ska should definitely check out 'Ska-Gal and the hand's of Ra'. They are amazing live, as Raphael Meade who would also have seen them in Portsmouth on Monday.

Not a fan of Electric Soft Parade, Richie? Haven't heard much from them in a while actually.

I quite liked Clearlake, whatever happened to them?

Best Sussex Bands ?

In third place : Burgess Hill Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps

Second place : 2nd Brighton Scouts

Winner : Haywards Heath and District Scout and Guide Band

I'm glad to see you don't rate the Newhaven Youth Marching Band, pasty.

When I lived two streets down from Dorothy Stringer School, they played host to the British Youth Marching Band championships.

Two whole days of bloody glockenspiels and xylophones, all playing the same tune.

Loud and badly.

Keane are from Hastings....although not my cuppa tea.

The mighty Levellers of course.

And old Robert E Smith grew up in Crawley

Excellent band, still going. I spoke to Jason about a fortnight ago.

The best band in the entire world of all time are from Brighton - The Fish Brothers.

Not strictly a band as I think he's performing solo these days, but Newhaven's greatest gift to the planet - and legend in his own lunchtime - Wreckless Eric is back on tour again. Still a god among men after all these years...
