For the VAST majority of B&H residents that dont give a monkeys about the Albion (and Lewes ones for that matter), the word 'Falmer' conjours up all sorts of picture postcard images that quite simply arent true.

The proposed site is next to a major road, a railway station and university buildings with car parking spaces.

It is a brown muddy field.

What more appropriate site could there be? I believe the club and B&H Council when they say it is the best site. Certainly there are fewer drawbacks with Falmer than other sites.

Secondly, we are too far gone down the road to pull back from Falmer anyway.

I understand how some people feel it's not going to happen because things are taking so long, but as Albion fans we have to dig deep and back the club 100%.

And that is what Falmer Parish Council and the Regency Society told us should happen at the last public inquiry. If I remember correctly "we should be prepared to make sacrifices" was the phrase used by Falmer's representative, a certain Mrs Cuttress. They do not support the Albion getting a new stadium as they always claim but want us to stay at Withdean and wither away.

Let's sacrifice Cuttress and Davecchi then.

Who said he didn't? Fortunately most people (although not all) disagree with him, therefore most of the posts on this thread will be stating the opposite view. Some will do it eloquently, some will take the piss and others will just be rants.

I honestly dont think we are ever going to get Falmer. This is just dragging on and on, I think other sites would have been approved by now, but of course its too late.

I still think we'll be at Withdean in 5 years time.

Whatever else the 2 inquiries have shown, the one thing they have confirmed is that no site that is actuallyavailable would have got planning permission. If we'd chosen most of the other sites mentioned Brighton Council would have opposed us which would probably have meant complete extinction by now. Any other site adjacent to the Downs would also have brought out just the same amount of wurzles opposing have had to Falmer.

I dont think people are not backing the club, I just feel that people are expressing their frustrations by questioning the wisdom of our stance. Yes we all agree in hinesite things maybe have been done differently and these things seen on the horizon, however that does not stop the discussion.

We, from day 1 questioned the wisdom of the statement..."There is no plan B..." All our eggs appear to be in one basket and no matter what you feel about DK or LDC or De Vecchi, this was always a very dangerous path we were going down.


Our supporters have got behind this board 100% and will do so again, irrespective of LDC and the rest, but we must be allowed to express our concerns and not be attacked as stupid and disloyal, which it appears certain people are persuing!

I can see the board's position. If you acknowledge that there are alternative sites you could be signing the club's death warrant.

The key for me was Prescott backing the bid and commenting on the significance of the boost it would give the community. That has given me confidence in what we are trying to achieve, and I am sure we will win.

If you say that Falmer was a mistake then you are NOT backing the board, because they are 100% committed to Falmer and will stand or fall by the final decision.

At least we know whats going to happen now ! it will go to court for a JD...........End of, DK and the Board need to start pressing the Govt for a date for this, and also they/we should push LDC to confirm they will accept the Judges ruling, whichwever way it goes.

Of course if we lose the case it will go back to Ruth kelly to look again but lets not go there yet !!

With all this hassle it appears pretty obvious that the club made the wrong decision with Falmer.

And no, I'm not playing into the hands of Lewes DC.

But let's face the facts, would any other location have created this much trouble and this long a delay which is now affecting the very future of the club?

Me, I'd rather just have a stadium. I don't care a damn where it is located.
Sheepcote Valley ... fine. So what if the public transportation is poor. Build it and they will come!
Shoreham Harbour ... fine. Yes, I know the road links are poor, but at least there's a railway.
Toads Hole and Waterhall ... both just fine in my opinion, but I know there'd be planning problems (road access in the case of the former and "wrong side of the bypass" in the case of the latter.

Look, just get us a stadium, OK?

Just 20,000 - 25,000 seats (actually I'd personally like some terracing!) and ideally the possibility for expansion (for when we're in the Premiership) ... oh, and a football pitch!
