We find some good bowlers but top 3 batsmen are awful.
Root might as well be an opener as he is usually batting before 10 overs are bowled!

The worst one of those culture shocks was a few years back on Sky when it went from Atherton & Sangakarra to Botham & Warne

England chucking this one away, if I was one of their bowlers I would be furious, the game was nearly dragged back. Only the loss of Day 3 is going to save them.

England batting is woeful.
Apart from Root (49), not one of the top batters average over 40, which is what you’d normally expect as a minimum from a test batsman.
They are all around the low 30s including Crawley who managed 267 in one innings.
In fact, of the current players (played in the last two years) not one averages over 40 apart from Root.
