Communist state? You mean socialist. Communism is a classless, stateless society based on egalitarianism...

I meant in a way that you are constantly monitored, but i suppose that happens in a socialist rule too. Let's call it a nanny state then?

What part of silent MAJORITY passed you by? It's not a minority at all.

I've lived in 5 different countries and never been called a f***ing Englishman or Brit

I would disagree, i think it is the silent majority that despair of morons who claim racism all the time who are in the audible minority. Political correctness has gone nuts.

Probably because you are either an old fart or you go to respectable places, must say you,ve done well considering.
What countries are you talking about as certain countries like the far east you won't get many problems,i found the italians to be a right pain,i was getting a tram in a remote part of sardinia and got called a "english cu*t"by the tram guard:D
Of cause i find that hilarious but doubt they would if it was the otherway round.

And i don't have an atittude problem:)

Well I'm approaching old fartdom now but that clearly hasn't always been the case. I have no idea what constitutes respectable but I've been round most of Europe, a whole lot of America and some of Canada, quite a bit of South America, most of central America, large parts of Asia and and the Arab world and bits and bobs of Africa. I haven't been to Australia (yet) but frankly I'd be disappointed if I wasn't insulted there.

Not much point in not being a racist if that doesn't prevent you from using racist abuse. Just like there's not much point in not being a paedophile if that isn't enough to prevent someone from shagging a kid.

Really pisses me off when people say that 'Paki' is racist. It's just like calling us a Brit. It's quite pathetic.

Ha ha ha, ha ha ha. Just you wait tilll HKFC gets to hear about this.2006 re-visited.

Aussie, Argie, Brit, Serb, Slovak. All shortened forms of the correct term for their nationalities. No fuss there though.

Is Nip acceptable for a Japanese citizen ?

I hope it isn't, as I have a habit of singing along to Holiday in Cambodia from The Dead Kennedys.

Paki isn't in and of itself racist, however it's become racist because the context associated with its use has tended to be a racist one. For example people rarely shout "You f***ing Brit" at me on the street.

This is very true. I tried explaining this to a kid that hangs around with one of kids. She said "Lets go round the paki shop and get some crisps" I am not racist, and I have brought my children up not to be racist. But in this instance, I wasn't 100% sure that the word used in this way, was racist or not.

Not matter what context a word like ni**er , pa*i is racist...
No they aren't. If one black guy says to his black mate 'yo ****** let's go get shitfaced' he's hardly being racist is he.
A word like black for e.g that black bloke i dont see as racist
Indeed, but used in different context black/white etc can be racist.

Are you serious? Of course it's racist, surely you're fishing? When white people call someone a paki, they're almost never saying it in a friendly way about someone from Pakistan, they're negatively referring to someone being Asian, regardless of whether they're from Pakistan, India or elsewhere in the region.

It's all about context. No one has used 'Brit' to insult a British person as far as I'm aware, however since those of Asian origin have settled on our shores, 'Paki' has always been a derogatory term used for anyone from Asia. It is inherently racist.

The Padd err Oirish use the word Brit as an insult.Touchy lot they are.

Beef Cobbler

ingredients
serves 4
575 g (1 1/4 lb) stewing or braising steak, cut into cubes
25 g (1 oz) plain flour
1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
salt and pepper
1 onion, chopped
3 tablespoons oil
100 g (4 oz) baby carrots
2 parsnips, quartered and sliced
600 ml (1 pint) beef stock
100 g (4 oz) frozen peas

for the topping
225 g (8 oz) self- raising flour
pinch of salt
50 g (2 oz) butter or margarine
1 egg, beaten plus extra to glaze
3 tablespoons milk
method
1. Toss the meat in a mixture of the flour, herbs and seasoning. Cook in the oil until browned. Transfer to a casserole.

2. Cook the onion in the oil until soft and add to the casserole with the carrots, parsnips and beef stock. Season to taste. Cover and cook in a moderate oven for 2 hours until the meat is cooked. Stir in the peas.

3. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl, rub in the fat until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

4. Stir in the beaten egg and enough milk to make a soft dough. Roll out on a lightly floured work surface to about 2.5cm/1 in thick. Cut into rounds using a 5 cm/2 in scone cutter.

5. Place the cobblers on top of the meat in the casserole, increase the oven heat and bake for 15 minutes.

Freezer Tip
If you intend freezing the cooked cobbler, then first line the casserole dish with double-thick cooking foil, making sure there are no cracks or gaps and allowing plenty of overlap round the rim.
Cook the casserole and cobbler in the lined dish, then cool and lightly cover. Freeze until hard. When solid, the cobbler in foil can be removed from the dish, packed in extra foil, labelled and stored.

And, from that single incident, in Sardinia, you reach a conclusion about Italians in general?

I think you had an encounter with an Italian tram guard with a good command of the English language. When insulting other people, most Italians would never use a word that refers to the female genitalia as a term of abuse. They simply don't think it works as an insult, so they don't use it.

you use a racist word. Interested in people's thoughts

Hmmmmm. Are you really interested in people's thoughts? or did you just want to start a spackfest thread as you know that it will degenearate into racism views, that will ultimately be locked by the mods.

Just wondering like.

Coon and Georgian blue gum are more offensive than ****** in their Historical context.

Racist jokes and names are fine in shows like Scrubs and House as they are middle class characters, the champaigne socialists dont like the oiks joining in as well though.
