Also where are the stage profiles. Not seen them anywhere, even on the official website (run by our dear friend Jamie going by the looks of it).

EDIT: Found it on the letour website. Maybe Kittel was a mistake for today/tomorrow.

I mainly use steephill for all races to be honest.

This link should take you straight to the dashboard for this race. 2013 Tour of Oman Live, Video, Route, Teams, Results, Photos, TV Have a good hunt around on there and you'll find all you need for all races this season and the chance to check out details of last years races for research too.

Goss and Degenkolb out - I don't think they're trying. Boonen and Bouhanni in. I had put Kittel in too, but he would've cost me points I don't have!

Be interesting to see how Boonen's elbow holds up today now that there's some uphill. He's here to race though it seems so he should give it a good go.

I've been a specialist at that this year.

I had the same thought about kittel. I'm interested what made you and Pantani go for appollonio? Looking at his price, he does seem excellent value but I hadn't really considered him.

You answered your own question there I think - excellent value at that price for this race on current form.

It's still all a bit of a lottery though isn't it - some days you get lucky, some days you don't. Luck can all turn on it's head tomorrow just as easily.

Have to agree entirely with 1066. I chose Appollonio because I assumed that it would be a sprint finish and he was a (relatively) cheap sprinter. If I am honest I was more expecting somewhere in the top 10 from him than second, but thems the breaks. I'd imagine like 1066, I have quite a fixed idea in my mind how much certain riders are worth, if they are less than that I normally pick them, again Appollonio falls in to this category. He certainly would not have been 6.5 had he been riding for Sky still.

Transfers for today, Kittel and Bouhanni out, Cancellara and Phinney in. It looks like an easier, and shorter, Milan San Remo to me for today's stage.

Agreed on mini MSR. Bouhanni for me though is one that could just about make the selection.

No chance, I will take that bet. He was 16 minutes down on the windy and only tough day at Qatar, the big boys will fight this one out.

So, opinion time...

Sexy than Victoria Pendalton snogging Liz Hatch, or more Ann Widecombe snogging Theresa May?

Imagine what bikes would look like now, had the UCI not been so fussy from 30 years ago, onwards.

Fugly. Horrible top tube angle, nasty joint to seat stays, tri-spokes on a road bike, and most importantly...

DIFFERENT COLOURED SADDLE/BAR TAPE!!
I doubt even celeste bar tape could save that.

I've just watched the Oman Tourist Board advert, sorry I mean first stage highlights. The risible Carlton Kirby was once again commentator, he must have said what a lovely part of the world Oman is at least ten times in half an hour. So, if your thinking about some winter sun get yourself out there, that said it does look quite pretty in places.

Kittel won easily enough, the Argos train nailed it. Wiggins does not look interested at all, there was a crash in front of him that he avoided with out any problems. The other Sky rider he was with sprinted to get on to the back of the peleton; Wiggo just sat up and cruised home. I hate to say it but it was a bit Schleck like and I can see why the commissaires have left him with the time he finished in rather than employing the 3km rule.

Traksel in the break again! With some Japanese guy no one has ever heard of, again!

They are on a go slow today though, average speed 38.7 kmh.

Tour of Oman official twitter I would guess!

Indeed.

Traksel and Japanese fella 4 minutes ahead with 40km to go. Peleton still just idling along.

3 minutes now, approaching first climb. 24km to go.

Now 50 seconds. It is a bit like following football on teletext.

All back together now.

1st KoM

1. Mystery NetApp rider
2. Kennaugh
3. Wiggins

Kennaugh might be a good shout for today's stage, I did think about him for my team but like all of Team Sky he has the fantasy cycling Sky tax added to his value, 12.7 for a rider that has won nothing on the road isn't right.

Sprint 2:

1. Gruzdev
2. Porte
3. Kennaugh

Looks like Sky are trying to set something up pulling on the front.

Impey first over second KoM looks like Goss is still there if Greenedge are pushing it. Kittel dropped, for after the horse has bolted fantasy players :p.

50 riders in lead group.

Nocentini and Contador leading at the moment.

Damn 1066, he has picked 1 and 2 again.

At the moment all we have is:

1. Sagan
2. Gallopin
3. Elimiger (he is on top form so far this season)

Rest of the top 10

4. Nibali
5. Stybar
6. Froome
7. Bandiere
8. Marcato
9. Impey
10. Bouhanni (looks like I was wrong there too, 1066 will be miles ahead now)

And some more places

11. Meersman
12. Vandenbergh
